Getting started with the app:

1. Login with your Ooma phone number and password. Please note that the app works with the primary number on your Ooma account, not additional numbers. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by visiting My Ooma.

2. Make unlimited domestic calls without using your cellular plan minutes. The Ooma application makes calls using the Internet, also known as Voice Over IP (VoIP). Make sure that you have a strong Internet connection, either Wi-Fi or 3G/4G, to ensure the highest voice quality.

3. Make international calls for low rates. Visit My Ooma to purchase international calling credits or to sign up for the Ooma World calling plan which includes unlimited calls to more than 60 countries.

4. Dial numbers in your iPhone’s contact list or set up a list of Favorites for quick access from the Ooma app.

5. Get alerts for new voicemail and listen to them conveniently on your phone. You can delete messages or file them into folders, all from the app.

6. View your call history, manage your privacy settings, and more.

The Ooma app requires iOS 7.0 and higher.

Be aware that some mobile network operators prohibit or restrict the use of VoIP over their network or impose additional fees and/or charges when using VoIP over their network. By using Ooma Mobile over 3G/4G/LTE, you agree to familiarize yourself with and abide by any restrictions your cellular carrier imposes and agree that Ooma will not be held liable for any charges, fees or liability imposed by your carrier for using Ooma Mobile over their 3G/4G/LTE network.

Works great!

I love Ooma! It almost always works perfectly. Occasionally the connection is iffy but it allows me to speak to my parents in Texas as often as I want, all the way from Sweden!

A sanity saver.

I am stuck at home in the 2018 Montecito mudslides. No power, no Internet, no TV, no landline telephone. Just an iPhone, Ooma and a li-ion battery pack (153-watt hours). People call in, the Ooma app sends the call to my iPhone and life is good.

Callkit Support added, yippee

Crashes and won’t open

App constantly crashes and will not even open on iOS beta 11.3. The only app I have this seems to have this issue.

Great app for traveling

I have used ooma from the Bahamas 2 or 3 months the past 2 years without a problem. A great savings and great service.

Good app, but

This app seems to ignore the “don’t bother me while I’m driving” feature of the iPhone. It keeps ringing, but it should be silent like regular iPhone calls.

Excellent features for the price

After buying the hardware I’m only paying local taxes for phone service at home. After using it at home for a while I decided to get it for my business too. For $10/month for their premier tier service, I get so many useful features, the smartphone app being the best. I’m not too happy about getting error messages about poor network quality every single time I use the mobile app for a call, but it works. I don’t have poor network quality by the way. It’s 50/50Mb/s fiber internet with the iPhone on WiFi.

International Calling Wizard

Writing reviews is not something that I do often but I feel compelled to spread the news about Ooma, especially for international travelers. After moving from the USA to New Zealand nearly a year ago I looked at several options for international calling plans including other Internet-based services. I was skeptical initially about Ooma but two of my friends highly recommended it. I’m glad that I listened to them. Choosing a phone number from the locale in the USA where I have most of my contacts has allowed simple dialing and I have used Ooma exclusively for international calls now for eight months. Since calls are placed using a local USA number it is very easy for people to return calls without any special dialing. There are no international charges or fees, and the quality of the calls are crystalline (at least as clear as when I’m in the USA using the local phone service there) with no calls being dropped. I do all of my calls off the Ooma app on an iPhone which works perfectly using either Wi-Fi or data on my local cell plan. Compared to other proprietary apps this one uses battery storage sparingly, so extended calls for business or to friends doesn’t flatten the battery. This app has made it convenient to use this service just like another line on my phone; the phone rings with a different chime letting me know it’s an Ooma call, I touch the screen to accept the call and I’m speaking to someone on the other side of the world just like they were next door. The value for the cost of the service is tremendous. I’m a very picky, skeptical person and Ooma has provided service well beyond my expectations.
