Customizable Help to Limit Unproductive Distractions

ChillyTea

Short Review: Onward is a very helpful app that has made an actual difference in my life by helping me curtail screen-based distractions and free up more time for important tasks. Long Review: I downloaded the app a few weeks ago at the prompting of a buddy who, I'm guessing was annoyed by my screen addiction. I was prepared to not like it, but it has won me over and truly opened my eyes to the staggering amount of hours and minutes I spend on my phone. This realization has started me on the path to reducing that amount so I can actually get things important things done. Like a lot of people, I'm sure, I have been fully seduced by the immediate satisfaction of being able to look up anything at anytime, be entertained whenever I feel like it by humorous videos, check every email as soon as it comes in, and other "benefits" that my iPhone has made available to me. However, as spending my time this way has slowly become "the norm", I never stopped to consider how much time a day I was actually spending looking at my little screen and how that time was divided amongst all my totally awesome apps. Onward, has allowed me to customize a plan to monitor my usage with daily reports that tell me how much time I've spent "Apping" each day and breaks down where I've spent that time. I guarantee your first few reports will be very eye opening. It also allows me to customize a plan to help restrict that time for certain apps/areas and cut out other areas entirely. I'm slowly reducing my knee jerk impulse to grab my phone any time I feel bored or when I'm procrastinating starting a task.

Very helpful for limiting screen time!

This app really does a great job of curbing addiction and overuse.

Technical issues

UFtutor1

This app gave my constant technical issues, even with pro. It would randomly not give a daily report, the blocking would not work and the vpn would cause my phone to become unable to connect to the internet.

A good way to detox

Feel more enrgetic.

Very frustrated by automatic pro sign up

MCRSS5

I downloaded this app and realized it didn’t have the features I wanted. (After having to go through an awkward back and forth conversation with a bot.) At no point did I express an interest in the $15 monthly subscription to pro. I deleted the app very soon after downloading and then this morning get a bill for $15. That’s really not cool. I don’t trust a company that signs you up to get billed without your consent. Avoid. This. App. I don’t like writing reviews and this is the first app review I think I’ve never written. My negative feelings about this app are that strong.

Does not work

CECILSTCHARLES

Activated Onward Pro etc. - the app does not work. It does not block anything at all. ?

So helpful

Mela_queen

Absolutely works.

Signed up for premium acct but get nothing!

Goondom

Despite signing up for premium account the app doesn't have any of the premium features. I deleted and reinstalled and not only did that not help but it had me sit through the same onboarding process with no ability to skip through!!

giant waste of money

What's the point of having an app blocker, in which you can access the settings and unblock the apps???? Purchased this app under the impression that I could restrict access to apps for a set period of time. Anyone who is addicted to an app can just go in and unblock it. I'd like my money back please.

Great idea

The app has a lot of solid potential - it’s awesome that you can analyze your daily use in an effort to reduce your addiction. My only complaint is that when using the vpn blocker in the pro version, it sometimes blocks the apps outside of that time range. It may be on my end, I’ll have to figure that out.
