Hands down the best Reddit app out there, and I’ve tried a few! I thought I wouldn’t find a replacement for Reddit is fun coming from Android many years ago, but I far prefer narwhal to that now!

I’ve used the free version of narwhal with ads for years and truly enjoyed it, but lately it’s started opening ads of its own accord (I. E. Without me touching the screen). Pretty frustrating stuff. Anyway, I’ll give it a few days before I jump ship, but I’d be wary of the free version for the time being.

I’ve been using Narwhal on my iPad for two years and have loved it. But over the past month I’ve had increasing issues. Mainly, it auto opens ads. I won’t even have hands on my iPad and it’ll just open whatever ad was in the lower left corner in Safari. Sometimes 3-5 times in a row back to back until the app crashes. If that weren’t bad enough, the keyboard covers the field where you type to comment. I have to constantly lower the keyboard then reopen it to be able to see what I’m typing. It’s very frustrating. These are the main issues and while it’s only two problems, they’re disruptive and annoying enough to make Narwhal no longer worth it. Oh. Not being able to see gif in comments and no audio on some gifv posts is a downer too.

The top of the screen is discolored and doesn’t match night mode color scheme after the latest update. Also, trending subreddits haven’t been updated for me since June. Other than that, this has become my preferred Reddit application although there was a slight learning curve.

I like this app better than the official Reddit app. It feels more like old school Reddit. The UI is a bit weird but I like it. My only complaint is the narwhal logo is not a home button. Most people are not switching between regular and dark mode multiple times a day so it just seems silly to have that there.

Recently either through their own greed or their ad service making an update they had no clue about, the ads have become very intrusive. Specifically seeing this behavior with Express clothing store ads. As will go from footer and take over the screen. You have to hit the small x in order to dismiss it. If you put the app to background while the ad is up the ad will go over your phone. I still give 2 stars as I really do enjoy the experience of the app otherwise.

Whenever I click a Reddit video link, there's a chance that my entire phone freezes. I have to turn off my phone and it ruins the browsing experience. Is there anyway you can fix this please.

1. No list of friends on the sidebar. You get r/friends, but no actual list. 2. There is a bug that will stop background media playback when going to the app. This is because you played some video in the app in the past, but it was not closed properly. You can fix it by closing the app and reopening. This is a well documented bug for several years on the getnarwhal subreddit with no fix.
