Fantastic Game!

Great game in a great series! I’ve enjoyed every Mystery of the Ancients game and this one did not disappoint! Can’t wait for the next one!!!!

Eh...

It was good and creepy, but it was also short. I was done in less than a day, and pretty easy compared to some of big fish’s others.

Not that good

Game did not have the hidden object patches as the older one did - only 4 and the rest were games, half of which did not work. big fish was a regular mothly fee and they still have over A$300 worth of credit from me and can’t seem to get it so can use it or have it returned to me. This crashed twice before I got through the main game so I would not recommend unless you like going back an beginning again a lot.

Hints, Inventory/bottom area disappears

Good game until later stages (room where the refrigerator is) then the bottom area (menu, guide, inventory, hints - all of them) just disappears so you can no longer do anything.

Best game I have played in a while!

I love this game. I play a lot of different games, this by far my favorite.

Loving these Muddy Waters!

Rating: 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 Another great game by MariaGlorum. I'm still playing this game, but no real glitches (see below), touchy placements or long lags between scenes so far. The good: Clear, colorful graphics, collectible bats (not too hard to find) and statues in the zoomed scenes. Custom mode of play, transportable map which shows available actions. Strategy guide doesn't make you re-start the game. The bad: there was one scene where the sounds and visuals didn't line up; am hoping this is a one-of and not a regular occurrence. A wee bit tired of being a detective of the paranormal yet again (which is why I'm particularly excited about an upcoming game - see end of review) The ugly: nothing to report here. Upcoming games: Echoes of the Past: Wolf Healer (3.5 stars average review on Big Fish, by Orneon, released in Oct. '14) - seems a bit old, not sure how well the game holds up against the newer offerings Beyond: Light Advent (4.5 stars, Mad Head Games, July '15) - am excited at this rare science fiction game from one of my favorite developers European Mystery: Flowers of Death (4.5 stars, Blam Oct. '15) Shadow Wolf Mystery: Curse of Wolfhill (3.6 stars, ERS, Feb. '16) Curio Society: New Order (4 stars, Domini Games, May '16)

M.O.A. - mud water creek - darkly delicious

Just in time for the Halloween season here comes a spooky offering to set the mood. Lots of rats, bats, bones, bodies and really wicked ghosts. Probably not for younger players. Custom difficulty, good map, entertaining ferryman who tells you stories as he takes you to your next location. Some unique HO (catch moving fish etc). Verdict: buy and enjoy!

I'm Having Fun Treading In The Mud!

To Nothingsmurf: Thank you for your kind words; I appreciate it. I'm sure you know what I mean! Even though I'm a die-hard horror fan, I find myself feeling consistently ambushed by one prevailing genre as opposed to being favorably exposed to miscellaneous categories, such as enchanting fantasy and classic mystery. I do hope the next several games divert away from this current trend of darkness and despair. This premise does not promote any new concepts or creative thinking; rather, it implements a "borrowed" storyline where a supernatural force is wreaking havoc as it tries to disrupt harmony between a man and his true love. Having said that, I am actually really enjoying this game. Progression is logical and is enriched by the characters you interact with. The mysterious, hooded boatman is an integral part of your journey as he reveals his knowledge of the myths and fables of the surrounding vicinities while transporting you between locations through the eerie, murky, and swampy creek; each landfall illustrates its own distinct setting with a connective tale to enhance your experience. The graphics are satisfactory with a fairly smooth visual presentation; they are not as muddled or unpolished as in other series. The color scheme is wholly blemished by a chronic, humdrum tinge of purplish-blue; jeez.....how about red or orange next time? Customized settings are offered; you may take off those pesky sparkles. Inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. The map gives brisk teleport to each location and indicates available actions. Transition is effortless and flowing; no stalling this time! Touch sensitivity is efficient with regards to the acquiring and placing of items; immediate response to my input is recognized. The HOS are varied with a gratifying medley of assorted forms to appease everyone's palate. Some are highly imaginative and demiurgic; for example, I love the scene where you feed the raccoon as he gives you items from a toolbox. There are others that demonstrate elements of ingenuity, but I will not ruin your sake of surprise. The puzzles are inventive and pleasing; some are relative to certain actions in performance, such as when you place boards to fit within a block of cells in order to cross the bridge. The collectibles are either highly visible or can blend into the background fairly well since the graphics are mainly dusky. I took off a star due to lack of a journal and for the weariness of a repetitive horror theme. Overall though, this is an engaging game with the coveted features that we all yearn for, together with an ample amount of diversity and creativity; I think it's worth your time.
