Samba, Samba, you know you wanta!

This app has breathed new life into my Kingston MediaLite Wireless G2, a decent wireless media device with built-in samba (SMB) sharing whose own app's music functionality is pretty lame. As mentioned by other reviewers and in the subject, MusicStreamer allows mounting of samba (SMB) shared folders and once you have pointed it to one, it indexes that directory and its sub-directories and locates all music files. While at home, I can point to the same drive share that I have on my portable and have easy access by toggling between profiles. On the subject of toggling, I like the fact it toggles between album mode, playlist mode & "driving" mode (the one with a steering wheel icon), which makes the controls really big. Overall, I have been pleasantly surprised how feature packed and easy to use this app is, with many features being so intuitively placed. In addition to its functionality, I really like the design of the app icon/logo, as well as the look and feel (including color scheme) of the app itself, which are details that many apps out there are missing. So, for this, my eyes thank you =) One last thing… Nathan from Stratospherix was very responsive to some questions I had about playlists and I look forward to watching this app continue to improve over time. Many Thanks!

Nice App one feature missing
ArtfromDon

App provides a way to export song playlists to both Mac & PC. Would give it 5 stars if I could IMPORT the playlist back into the player following edits to the playlist on my computer. (So much easier to add songs and manipulate that way.) That feature would make it perfect. I have many playlists and don't want to have to duplicate my efforts in recreating those playlists.

Good Samba implementation but some features are being missed
p.a.u.l.b.

Easy, nice, I like it but... Lots of people using flacs these days, so *.cue support is essential. Is this that hard to implement? Check out how Foobar2000 developers do it. Also there are couple of unknowns: 1. Is the app downsampling lossless audio? 2. Based on your other app "FileBrowser" do you cache streaming content locally on iDevice? If so, then how can I clean it? So far 3 stars from me. Thank you.

Perfect high end audio app for your iPad!
Wavelengh

I design audio equipment for a living. I wanted access to my 12T library of cd quality and high res. This works great with external DACS like the AudioQuest DragonFly on all sample rates. It even down samples 24/192 and 24/176.4 to 24/96. Great thanks! Gordon

Perfect app
KGSnow

This is exactly what I was looking for (after lots of trying). Very easy to set up, the app finds music on all of my network devices and then quickly indexes everything. Well worth the modest cost.

I love this app

If you are looking to stream from an SMB source this app will not only do it easily, but give you a beautiful intuitive interface in which to do it.

Excellent App!

Finally, an easy to set up and use app to play my NAS (WDMyCloud) music library on my IPad. I had to enter the IP address for my server to kick things off, but once it scanned my 1.3k album iTunes library (30mins) it was easy to find and play any album I have. It plays both Apple lossless and MP3s w/o any problems. Some Suggestions to the Stratospherix developers for additional features: *Upfront scan for NAS drives on local nwks. *Show bitrate and file format in library *Show bitrate and file format during playback *Add an App FAQ and user forum to your website Excellent job on this App- well worth $4!!! Ps. I don't usually post App reviews, only if something is unusually good or bad. In this case, an excellent app for music playback!
