Customer service, PLEASE!

Harparbar

Update: after over a year (and over 1100 sessions) the same dreaded bug that plagued me back when I wrote this review has returned. Muse just decided to stop recording my sessions on the main page, although they’re captured under history. Refreshing 40+ times to no avail! This is now interrupting a 363 day streak! Please help! The freezing issue below has been fixed, so there’s that! Previous Review: I have been using Muse for several years now, and I’ve largely been satisfied. I guess with over 700 sessions, I’m what they call a superuser — but that doesn’t mean I’m totally happy. I try to meditate for at least 10 minutes every day, and the system of beach and birds seems to work for me. But when I have a problem, and I’ve had a few lately, I can’t get a satisfactory resolution from customer service. Two examples: 1. Back in May, I had a streak of 142 days straight meditating. On the 143 day, Muse decided not to remember my session — though it appeared in some of the graphs (and still does). I got customer service on the line, they told me that had a server problem and were working to fix it and restore my streak. In the meantime, they suggested turning the clock on my phone back to the date, and meditating again, and that would complete my streak. I did. It didn’t work. They responded later after I emailed Sean (my customer support dude)and told they were working to resolve the issue. Then: crickets. 2. Next, Muse decided it would freeze about 14 seconds in my session. And I mean freeze! I couldn’t even close the app! I had to restart my phone, and sometimes try three or four times before I got farther in the session. Wrote again. Promised a response, and you guessed it: crickets. This is generally a good product. But when something goes wrong, you got to figure it out for yourself I guess. I never solved #1, but I think I beat #2— before I meditate, I close every other app on my phone that’s open. That gets me past 9:46! So keep at it Muse. And maybe take a hard look at that support piece!

Broken in latest.

Since the last update the app seems unable to record and track time spent.

Good meditation routines

So far I have enjoyed using muse and the headband, a Muse S it has been great with helping me start a meditation practice. Seeing the results makes it much easier to let myself go during the time. I also have been using the soundscapes to assist with going to sleep, I haven’t had a bad night with it so far.

Love muse

piratick

Muse helped me to start meditating. I love design, how it feels. Every morning i look forward to it, it just part of my mornings now. I am in my 40th and no matter how much I tried, i could not make meditation part of my daily life. Muse made it easy, something I look forward to rather than something I avoid. Tankful and grateful for Muse.

Best material thing I have ever bought! Has made me a better athlete, student, father, friend, and employee. My spiritual life has grown and the ability to let thoughts come and go has been exponentially improved which has led to better decision making. Shut it you won’t regret it

Obsessed

I’m obsessed with Muse, I have been using it almost daily since I got it. I am not sure if I haven’t looked properly but I’m still looking for answers on how to read the graphics on my sessions. I found some information but I was looking for something more specific. I would appreciate if you can point me to that information if it’s available. Thank you!

I like the device but the app is limiting capabilities.

I can’t see my brain in real time while I know of companies capable of the same thing. I can’t really dig into the data to help myself or now what frequency my brain is working in. Lines on a graph doesn’t tell me much. There’s so much more this thing should be able to do. Hopefully they’re working on improving the app instead of the device.

Really well done app and device

I have had muse for about a week or two now and am happy with the device and app. There seems to be a lot of potential here for additional uses for the headband but as a meditation tool it is valuable. I have been meditating for a couple years and find this system to aid in quantification and education/enlightenment but not enlightenment in the spiritual sense of the term. Put another way, the band helps me to understand whether or not the techniques I am using translate to a greater sense of calm and wellbeing quantitatively. I understand that this may seem contrary to general teachings and principles of meditation but meditation for me is so many things to include an aid or tool to help me be better. Certainly part of the journey is to understand and feel how you wander and lose focus and for this reason it is important to practice without muse as well. However, even though it may not matter to some to measure where you are or how far you’ve come, but in the absence of a personal teacher, muse can act as a guide. As such, I welcome the muse to help me understand how I can be a better mediator to help me be a better person. I gave it four stars because I have a hard time paying for guided meditation when I just paid for the headband, but more importantly because I believe that the system has room to grow. For example, I would love to see a concurrent system for neurofeedback in aid of athletic performance (I.e. to help get into the flow state through real time cues) or in aid of mental health without having to pay significant amounts to a third party vendor. All in all happy with the purchase and the app.

Great Motivation

ZenVester

I love Muse. Have been meditating with my headband almost daily for over a year now. I enjoy the challenges each month because I usually prefer silent meditation so the guided ones are great to switch it up. I sit 10 min every morn before work and really look forward. Sometimes if I can’t sleep I will do a restorative guided meditation to release stress of the day.

1 week streak!
