This app is great

Kallen T

I never knew you could have a old phone as a security camera until now! This app is great for watching over your baby, pets of just about anything. The only bad this is the interface I think the app could be designed a little better with a fresh look. Overall though great app! Download it today!

Look out for overheating batteries

bbebb

The app works as advertised, and does a good job of detecting and reporting motion and it’s easy to select the amount of motion of concern and the areas to be excluded. The lag time isn’t fast enough to see who is at the door but nothing really is quick enough for that. The fatal flaw is the danger of leaving obsolete iPhones on a charger 7/24/365 for months or years. I have used 4 old iPhones for Manything cameras since the early days of Manything and 3 of them had their batteries overheat and swell up to the point of separating the front and/or back of the phone which is too close to a lithium fire for my comfort. None of these phones were in the sun, all were in well-ventilated air conditioned spaces with proper Apple chargers. I don’t know how long they had swollen batteries since they just kept on working and I unwittingly kept them on the charger (until one died last week). Needless to say, I no longer use old phones as Manything phone/cameras, they’ve all finally been recycled (which BTW required a trip to the Apple store, I couldn’t find anyone else to take an iPhone with a swollen battery). Too bad, I really found the app useful. This is an Apple problem not a Manything problem...Sort of.

Glitch city

Oh Noooo!!!

Many many interruptions will turn the app off. Too bad. This app is so close to being the best for what it is. BUT as it is, you must be close to the camera so you can reset it and start it up again. That’s hard to do while you’re at work or across the country on vacation. I’ve noticed that there are even more interruptions that stall the app when you are paying for the subscription.

Great app

I am using the free plan and set up my iPod as a camera facing my bedroom door and it sends me an email every time something moves included with a picture. I downloaded this app because I like to go to my dads office during the summer but my sister likes to stay home and constantly goes in my room and leaves her trash and takes my stuff so I set this camera up so I could bust her. Thanks Manything.

Awesome app

This app is awesome :)

Note to developers

Dangerous-J

Please make a button that can turn on/off the camera that is not buried in the menu. Just a button below the camera on the main view page showing all cameras. I manually turn my camera on and off when I leave home. I don’t want it on all the time. Right now I have to go 3 layers deep into the app to turn the camera on and off for each camera. 5 star review if you can do this.

Not worth the hassle

Cp Allen

This company is pretty much run by two people who won’t return phone calls or do much of anything. Even though I was paying for the service the app wouldn’t allow me to access my cloud video. The app would constantly drop the connection and can’t auto connect so my camera would be off until I reset on the second device. Not worth the hassle.

Attention: if using “GUIDED ACCESS” please read.

I used this app in the past and if anyone uses guided access and their connection drops after ~20 minutes. Make sure to enable: General > Accessibility > Guided Access > “Mirror Display Auto Lock” As this was causing problems with disconnection in past when I used it. No problems since. Developers: you could mention this in a app update to inform users to ensure this setting is enabled to improve user experience, as I had learned ?.

Won’t let me unsubscribe

Oh Noooo!!!

Tried again and again. The ability to unsubscribe has been removed. Now what do I do?

iPad as camera stopped working

C sawada

Several friends and I tried to use our iPads as the camera and view the live streaming on our phones, but the live viewing wasn’t working/connecting. We finally switched it where we had our iphones act as the camera and watched the live viewing using the iPad. I’m not sure why this setup has changed, but it’s a little inconvenient to have to leave your phone as the camera and carry around an iPad.
