No longer satisfied.

It used to be worth every penny I paid. It blocked all ads until all of a sudden recently I started seeing ads showing up and then with this last update I see a banner advertising a new app that seems just like what I already paid for. No thanks!

Will Not Restore Premium Purchase

Marst Machi

Edit: Dropped one star for combination of unblockable ad that leads to dev’s hard sell, acting like we got more than enough value in “2.5 years” with purchase of app, shady practice in the first place and whining about it when other users called them out. This was the first ad blocker I purchased but didn’t even fill my needs, so it wasn’t the last. Let’s not go overboard with patting ourselves on the back. Older: Restored within a few hours but I shouldn’t have to tweet about this kind of thing. This is the kind of thing that would be discovered with proper Beta testing. I guess we’ll just chalk the singular unblockable ad for your new app to your sense of humor. Previous: Had premium package but now that they’re pushing this shiny new much more expensive “upgrade” I am unable to flip more than one switch even though the app pretends that the restoration went through.

Terrific software, work-in-progress business model

Don’t buy this version — support is ending and a new version will soon be available as a separate app. I’ll reserve judgement for now about the developers’ decision to change business models by end-of-lifing this app and releasing a paid version with a slightly different name. The new one is a paid app with family sharing enabled, whereas the old version was a free app with an in-app purchase (which is inherently not family shareable, it turns out). I think this is a good move, hopefully both for the developers and customers. I understand that continuing development requires continuing revenue, but this transition was badly mishandled (my original review follows): (original title) DON’T UPDATE — Premium version disabled!!! I downloaded an update today for this app and suddenly it won’t recognize that I’ve purchased the premium version and I’m back to only being allowed to have one set of blockers active any given time… what the hell??? The developer claims it was a mistake and that a fix is on its way, but to be honest, given the addition of a permanent nag dialog urging us to upgrade to a new paid version, this looks REALLY bad…

Dev create another app and charging more, even if you have paid for this app!

This app has now been changed to a “legacy” app and the developer pushed a new one that previous user have to pay again! This is just greed, pure and simple.

Developer created a new app and renamed this one “legacy” after I paid money for it. Do not support this developer. Search for alternatives to this app.

Frustrated Update: fixed now

Very angry

Of course when I finally purchase the premium version they drop this one like a hot potato. I want my money back.

Paid for full version on April 10th, then they switch product lines effective April 26th.

Bait and switch

Bought the app a couple weeks ago and now there’s a new, better app.

Customer-hostile version transition plan

Just bought the premium version of the app about a week ago, and learned it will now be obsolete pending release of the ‘X’ version in just a few days. I have no problem paying for an app, and ~$5 every 2-3 years for quality work is fair. However, the handling of the X announcement was very poor, especially for folks who just bought the app very recently only to find it deprecated. On their blog, the devs said they’ve been working on X for 6 months... why not at least mention that on the legacy app page so customers know what they’re getting into? Cutting prices on legacy 30-90 days out could have been a great marketing opportunity too. As it is, they’ve generated lots of understandable backlash and negative vibes for a formerly pristine indie brand, and they refuse to even engage or acknowledge the frustration on Twitter as far as I’ve seen, beyond a snide comment in a recent blog post. I finally got a refund for legacy by calling 1-800-my-Apple and asking for the iTunes billing team, and I suggest any other frustrated customers do the same. I REALLY wanted to like this app, the team, and the brand, but I’ve moved to AdGuard (free and works just as well as legacy) until I see some honest contrition and engagement from the devs. They certainly don’t have to address the issue (though I hope they do), but neither do I have to use their product (though I would be happy to pay for X if they can fix their brand).
