Fantastic Prenatal Workout Program!!

Ade-dee

Could not believe my luck when the Oh Baby program was released on Mothers’ Day. I was at the mid point of my second trimester and after all other prenatal workout apps weren’t doing it for me, I went back to the JM app and settled on doing the beginner programs instead with modifications when needed. I was at intermediate level pre-pregnancy. With the Oh Baby program I’m back to doing intermediate level workouts and I always feel fantastic. Did not expect to still be able to do some of the workouts especially at first glance with my gradually inflating bump, but they are so well tuned for expecting mamas I just simply slid back into my routines with ease. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! from me and my bump ❤️

Perfect for novices. 10lb weight loss in 45 days!

PROS: - Cost - Quick, effective workouts - Personalization - Increasing difficulty of workouts CONS: - None in regard to the workouts - Minor app features, like font size and volume of music COST — I have always been a Jillian Michaels fan since losing 20lbs years ago using her 30 Day Shred. When I needed another weight loss solution, I did some research and had to decide between Kayla Itsines’ BBG or Jillian Michaels. I ultimately didn’t want to spend the $60 for the BBG and a 3-month subscription for the premium Jillian Michaels version was only $30. So I figured I’d give Jillian a try and if I didn’t like it or it didn’t work as well, I’d try something else. QUICK, EFFECTIVE WORKOUTS — I’m currently halfway through my 90 day program and have already lost 10lbs. I am so much stronger than I was when I started and have become so excited to see new muscles appear each week. I would recommend this app in a heartbeat. For someone who’s always hated working out, I’m used to whining about a workout from start to finish and have to talk myself out of quitting all the time. Thank goodness, there’s no time to even do this using this app because Jillian’s workouts are so quick (laid out in 25 second chunks). By the time I start thinking about quitting, it’s already time to move on to the next move. PERSONALIZATION — I also love the ability to swap moves out for other ones. This gives it the personalized feel. I don’t often have to do this, but on the occasion that I feel like I need to, it’s very convenient. INCREASING DIFFICULTY — My next favorite thing is the difficulty level. The way she built the program is so perfect. The first week of a new routine kills! I feel like I can barely do half of the moves. But a week or two later, because you’re working out 6 out of 7 days of the week, you improve at a fast rate. Then just as you feel you’re getting really good at the moves, the difficulty level increases and you switch to a new routine. It’s so great and never lets your muscles get comfortable for too long. This is totally why I’ve been impressed at the strength I’ve built. I’m definitely getting better results than if I were to just go to the gym and do random workouts on the machines. SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT — The only reason I’m giving it a 4/5 is because of the app features. The workouts themselves are a 5/5 for sure. Some suggestions I’d have for the app builders: - Increase font size for upcoming move. I almost always play it on my phone and don’t project the screen to my TV and when it’s time for the next move, I have to squint and get up close to the screen to see what move is next. Kind of a hassle and often times I’m too late and have to watch the move for a few seconds before starting it. - Increase volume of Jillian’s voice during workout intros and lower volume of background music. I want to hear what she’s saying but never can over the music. Overall, great app! I haven’t used the meals because I’m doing something separate for my meal planning. This review is mainly for the workouts and app useability.

Love the app, but the update with AMP makes it actually less flexible.

Subcanadian

I love this app as it was, I also love the idea of AMP if it actually worked with you a little more. BUT IT IS AN ABSOLUTE TRAINWRECK!! I hate that there is less flexibility in recipe choice. It used to be you could substitute meals for the day with one that met the goals for that meal, but now it’s not a choice, you have to keep hitting refresh for a different option and only a handful show up seemingly at random. Say, for example it is trying to give me left overs from last night for lunch, only I don’t have any leftovers. It stubbornly gives me only that option. Or I have extra ingredients left to make another recovery smoothie for breakfast, but that option doesn’t pop up in the refresh options for breakfast. Am I to waste those ingredients or enter all the information in by hand??That is extremely frustrating. I really miss the substitute button, hitting the refresh button over and over to get a desired recipe is ANNOYING, a list of options is quicker and easier. Also, you used to be able to choose WHICH meals you were cooking for more than one person. Now it’s either all or nothing. If you choose to cook for 6 for dinner, it applies that to ALL your meals. Which then forces me to have work backwards in subtracting what is needed when only cooking for myself, or just go with 1 person for all meals and have to adjust the menu for the ones where there are more. Why take away these flexibilities?? It drops user satisfaction dramatically. Please fix these issues!! I love the app as a whole and want to continue to use it, but the recent changes to meal planning are making me consider other options out there. I mean ugh!!! What it has for the menu for dinner and side tomorrow is: Roasted vegetables w/Romanesco sauce AND Roasted vegetables w/Romanesco sauce... seriously??? It wants me to make it for both the main and the side? It won’t let me change it either. No matter how many times I refresh it. It stays the same. Talk about a major glitch. This is absolutely frustrating! And yeah, I am eating Mahi Tacos for lunch EVERY DAY!! No changes allowed. And now some days show two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners. Doubles up. Ugh.

Wish it were more like her DVDs :(

Sarmani76

Hope this message can be relayed to Jillian personally especially my last question about JM gyms nationwide. Why can’t it be more like your DVDs? I love all of your workouts, but the APP feels so boring just random moves instead of an actual full group workout like I am used to. I wish it could be more like Beachbody on Demand. Hope you consider improving. FYI I have all of your DVDs but it would be so convenient if u could offer Body Revolution & Body Shred on here as well as all of your other workouts. DVDs will soon be a thing of the past. Please consider. Also still waiting for a Jillian gym nationwide where we could enjoy your workouts and get results with live instructors rather than waste time at random gym. Any plans?? ?? ?? Fingers crossed u do?? Nothing has ever worked for me as well as your workouts have (& I have tried EVERYTHING- including Crossfit!!)

Great app! Please add her yoga workouts ?

emetaphor

Update: fixed and thank you for responding! I’d like to see yoga workouts added as a plus ?. I love the app, but the latest update won’t let me change the type of meal plan to omnivore after I click save. It still shows the same one. The other ones appear to change though, just not omnivore. I also keep getting a network error when I switch between the different areas of the app at times.

Not Free at all

Don’t bother with this app unless you’re willing to pay. Nothing is free. iTunes needs to take it off the free list.

Needs work

Elway7777

Apple Watch app does not work. Tells me I need to start a workout on the phone but then when I do, nothing happens on the watch. Also if you start a workout but need to cancel it; the app makes it completed for the day and there’s no way to restart. Not very user friendly.

Can’t cancel

Apple lover30000

I never write reviews, but I felt like I needed to review this app. I like Jillian Michaels so I signed up for the free trial and then the subscription. When I decided I needed to cancel I can’t! I’ve gone into my subscriptions and there is no option for canceling! I have never had this problem before! I have tried many times to cancel & I keep getting charged! I would not recommend this app!

Keeps even advanced athletes challenged!

LenPenRun

I used to run long distance competitively. As I got older, I worked more and travelled a lot, finding it difficult to muster the energy for my daily runs. This is the only fitness app I found thus far that never ceases to challenge my workouts: I can do them anywhere and they actually keep me fitter than pure running. 5 stars! Thank you, Jillian.
