Ruined my experience as a digital artist

I’ve been doing digital art on Instagram since 2016, and have really enjoyed it thus far! But I can tell they’re now trying to pivot all their attention to reels to try and be more like tiktok, and ever since my post engagement has been cut down to less than half of what it used to be. I have almost 13k and used to get around 7000-12000 people seeing my work on a given day, now only about 2000 people see any of the art I make, only 800 being non-followers. I relied very heavily on Instagram as an artist, it was an ENORMOUS part of how I did my commissions and made my income, but now so few people actually see the work I’m putting out that it’s basically useless. I’ve heard similar complaints from many other artists in my field, it’s affecting a lot of us. If Instagram continues to put all their focus onto video media and forcing us to PAY to have our work actually shared with anyone, I’ll likely move completely to Twitter where my art is actually seen.

There is just so much commotion going on in this app its becoming sensory overload. Stop suggesting posts to me of the same bot accounts that post "satisfying" content and using the same abcdefu song every 3 videos. I click "not interested" and it really doesn't do anything but keep showing me the same content. I hope that the algorithm becomes better because it seems even though you hide likes and views, the only posts that get shown are the ones with a lot of interaction going on. I have 1k followers, and I get like 5 likes because my posts don't show up in the feed for majority of my followers. Please go back to chronological order rather than by whats trending, thats what the explore page is for. That goes for feed and for comment sections. I like to read comments, and comment myself, but the comments with the most likes get put first, or someone with a blue check, and it is randomized other than that. Youll see a comment from 3 weeks ago, and then scroll all the way down to see comments 3 minutes ago. Also, if i get a response to my comment in a thread, i can either click "view new comments" and it wont let me view all the previous, or vice versa. i have to manually go to the page and post and find my comment all the way in the messed up comment section to read all of the thread in order.

Instagram is a great platform to advertise your work. It really helps boost your client views and get you those repeat customers as well as show off your branding. Install it, post your stuff, and get those followers!

This is pathetic, you can’t even say certain words that you’d use in every day life without your comment being removed. Not to mention how they force a phone number to be connected to your account for no reason. I’d probably say that this is the worst social media option by far.
