Always upgrading cost more

Dwc43

I have been using Informant for a long time since it’s been out. I like it except the developers is alway upgrading the app and changing versions. That is normally a good thing EXCEPT the money you might have paid for the version is no good on the next version.

Not happy with subscription service. Too many other options out there. I am gone.

Used to be good before they got greedy

FatherPriest

I used to love this app several years ago. Even though it was one of the most expensive apps in the store at the time, it was worth every penny. When the went to version 5 they started the subscription BS. Unless you want to pay through the nose every month for functions that should be there, all you get is the calendar. Worse yet they pretty much disabled your old version so you had to upgrade. Every time I ran it I would get a full screen pop up that could not be cleared demanding I upgrade. Very sad. DO NOT GET THIS APP!!! Their Greed Ruined it!!!

Disappointed

Clementine2

I loved many versions of PI for over a decade, first using on a PA and later smart phones. I’m very disappointed that simple drop and drag to reorder tasks is still not available. This one feature is very important to me, so with the new version and change to subscription, I’m choosing to leave PI. Sorry folks. It’s a deal breaker for me.

Appalling ransom and lack of response

Athenajw

After using PI since it originally came out for pocket pc I was stunned to have all my data held for ransom when I bought a new iPhone and restored from the cloud. I did NOT request/authorize an “upgrade””. I already paid for the app. Now I cannot access tasks or contacts. Wrote for assistance and received no response (this was unusual as the company had previously been responsive). In desperation I PAID the $25 ransom and STILL cannot access my data!!!!i don’t know where to turn— this is appalling service. I just want my original program back, supported or not. I NEED MY DATA!!

Bring back the OLD

Truebeast

I paid $15 for this app to have weather and tasks.. then had to pay another $25 just to get it AGAIN for the new app. The new app (informant 5) DOESNT let you add cool color customization. And literally is the same as the old except for the updated buttons & syncing with emails.. which I don't care for or need. This app icon is also WAY cuter then the new. Just saying.. anyways. informant, I know you can't respond to this review but I hope it encourages you to make that new fancy EXPENSIVE app worth it.

Pure Blackmail

SolutionsEngineer

I am OK to payment for enhancements & new features, but to hold me ransom bytes shutting off access for something I have paid for is breaking contract when you accepted the money. Also why $4.99 , in the future it may $49.99 or more to hold people ransom

App crashing

2photolady22

This app keeps crashing every time I try to add an event to the calendar

Great app

B-House

Not sure why the low ranking. This is one of the best apps on my phone. I can see everything so clearly in the month view that I never use the built in calendar app.

Evil Plan to Make You Upgrade

NiceIdeaToo

Alex and co. responded to one user that the move to a subscription model and version 5 vs. upgrading version 4.xx is not an evil plan to make users upgrade by holding functionality or access to the users own data hostage. But if that were true, why hasn’t the “bug” been fixed in a year? You know, the “bug” that Alex referred to that makes it impossible to use the app if you need EVER to go into Settings (due to the impossible to avoid version 5 upgrade sales pitch). I am actually avoiding going into Settings after reading the posts by others, as I don’t want to have to do the Recovery workaround Alex and co. recommended of downloading a file to my desktop, sharing the file with the Informant app, etc. every time I accidentally I try to go to settings and get into the version 5 upgrade loop. Without the ability to go into Settings, the app is crippled and I think I will have trouble or be unable to export tasks to another task manager and I will have to do it all manually! I caught Alex years ago posing as a user in the App Store when he posted at least one review about how great the app was and minimizing or dismissing app faults and upgrade data loss and giving the app, his team, and the company a five star review. Alex then apologized after being caught, and removed the glowing app review, but the experience made me wonder how many things he has done without getting caught. This demonstrates to me a level of customer disrespect and greed that I can no longer tolerate. After being a longtime user of Informant on Windows mobile and iOS from day one, I lost confidence in the app and company after numerous version upgrade fiascos and never really got much functionality from it on iOS after a couple years of frustration and migrated a lot of task data to another task manager, but still have a lot of recurring tasks and historical data still in Informant unfortunately. I will be seeking a refund from Apple. Alex and co. (WebIS is now Fanatic Software?) should not get away with this without some financial impact.
