I’m traveling and see plants/flowers that are not in my region and want to know what they are are this App has been brilliant!

I love INaturalist

sandyinla

I love the iNaturalist app for iPhone. I frequently hike and photograph the natural world around me, so inaturalist was a natural next step for me. I like that I can connect with others with similar interests but I do think that the inaturalist team can improve the user interface. Also, I’d like to see a way to get in touch with others that I know that are using inaturalist. Keep up the good work! Sandy

Wonderful

This app is wonderful. I wish there were mushroom groups/projects in southwest Florida but that is alright. Still a really awesome app. I would definitely give it a shot.

Best app ever!

From animals to plants to insects to fungus, iNaturalist is the best tool I have found for cataloguing and identifying.

Would be good if it was inclusive

Laikaghost

I got flagged for uploading images friends sent to me, as I don’t live somewhere that has a lot of biodiversity and am not going to upload the same house centipede everyday. People made rude comments and basically told me that despite providing accurate data (time/place), I was violating (lol) copyrights that weren’t even in place. Like, maybe just admit the app is for rich people who travel and entomologists (if you can’t crowd-source others’ photos WITH permission). Seems like a strange rule that will keep people from seeing a lot of insect pics but OK.

Just what I was looking for

Whitneybrookut

I was looking for an app that could serve as a field guide and a log. This is perfect. The detection/categorization of flowers works well. I uploaded a lot of pictures that I had not taken with identification in mind. Feedback from other users is helpful, as is the ability to see what others have found in the area. You can mask the location of observations if you worry about exposing a rare or sought after species. Update 2019: have been using this for 3 years, still love it.

So much fun!
