I have pasted the response I got from Hoopla regarding the app not working with ebooks on my new iPhone se 2020. I had the same problem with my old phone, and had hoped the new one would resolve the issue. I can read ebooks with Libby or Kindle, or even Hoopla on my iPad or PowerBook. I suggested they contact Apple, but this is what they sent me, and they want to know the title, as if the issue related to only this ebook. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. The solution they suggest is way too complicated and maybe risky for me. It’s still a good app, for sure! Hoopla response below, answering my request for help regarding not being able to read ebooks on iPhone se 2030: Thank you for reaching out! If you could please try to clear the cache for your device, check your device for software updates, delete any applications and or files you're no longer using, power cycle your router, and uninstall/reboot device/reinstall hoopla this could help! If this does not work please let us know the name of the title(s).

This App is fantastic! I have listened to some great books for free! I just wish the app showed the separate chapters when listening to it. I find it difficult to listen to the book without knowing how far I am into it.

Kindle when?

Only complaint is I can’t read the E books on my Kindle

Waste of Amazing Potential

Still the most frustrating app ever though to be fair it’s not quite as buggy as it used to be. On the one hand, I’ve been able to find and borrow/download so many favorite artists I used to love on vinyl. On the other, the interface is dated and glitchy as Apple’s Newton character recognition software from back in the day. While credit goes to the dev team for addressing the glitch where you think the title is going to download just fine but instead just auto back-screens and makes you start the process over from search, it’s far from a great listening experience. For example, I can’t understand why the app isn’t smart enough to remember your place in the track list in the same way it remembers your place in an audio book. The whole UX now feels like brilliant design concept used by its creator to get a better gig and meanwhile the app he or she left behind steadily gets less and less reliable and fun to use. Memo to Midwest Tape: Make it good or sell to Libby.

Great

I love Hoopla! Almost everything Audible is without a $15 a month bill. Plus you can e-book to boot!

Great...but could be a tad better.

When it comes to audiobooks, I only read unabridged versions. The app doesn’t let you know whether they are or not. They also don’t always tell the reader how long the book is going to be. Those two things always impact my selections, and I find I have to go look them up on Amazon or other sites for those details, which takes time and is a hassle.

Very valuable accompaniment to sheltering in place!

Great array of books! I enjoy audiobooks, my only problem, only five books allowed per month.

Terrible App

I’ve written reviews before, clearly outlining my issues. I’ve also submitted tech/help requests via the app, and my problem has yet to be corrected. I even sent a screen recording giving a visual look at the problem, but nothing. This is a useless app.

Love Hoopla

I thoroughly enjoy hoopla. The revamp of the app threw me a bit but I finally figured it out. I enjoy the selection of audiobooks as well as movies and music. Additionally they have a great selection for kids. Personally I am mostly in the audio books due to weak eyes. If anything my only complaint at this time is that I cannot find a place to find a list of all the books in a series so that I can read them in order. I have to iamb dump having to go to the Internet to look up the author to find the books in order. Also it does not seem to ever carry all of the books in a series. I find it frustrating to have to switch to Libby for books that are not here. Unfortunately I end up staying with Libby since they seem to be better about having complete series. Sometimes it’s a matter of bouncing back-and-forth between the two.
