Most city walking tours apps you are locked into stops and some don’t offer description of the sties. This app has articles and descriptions of sites. After deciding what sites to see you can create a custom map of your personalized walking tour. The app will take the sites you have selected and create a map that is most convenient.

Update — they have sent an update today and the app works excellent. Thank you!!! I’ve been using this app for over a year and love it. However, now is stuck in a “refreshing your subs” screen. The app is locked in this mode and won’t work. I tried deleting the app and re-installing it but it isn’t working. If anyone knows how to fix it is appreciated.

Not at all intuitive and the tutorial didn’t address any of the challenges experienced in the app. Spent the 2 bucks in hope that it would enhance the experience- Never could access after initial walk- spinning icon with indicating data loading but app never opened- just sucked up my data. Deleted. Good riddance.

My Trip to Portugal. Downloaded their apps for Porto and Lisbon. I selected walks and articles and downloaded to my phone. To get the map functionality I had to download another app GPSMyCity (aka The Full Version) and subscribe. I selected full year for maximum features. I did all of this before I left home one day before my flight. So when I arrive to my destination and try to access my downloaded features, all I got was a spinning “Updating” message. WHY!!!!!! aren’t they already downloaded? Not the worst though, updating never seemed to finished so I could not get past and even use the app. Happened in both cities and while i was connected to hotel Wi-Fi. I rarely leave app reviews and I prefer to leave a constructive comment for a poorly functioning app rather than a nasty one. But this app was so promising and delivered nothing when it counted. Owe me a refund and an aspirin.

I have used this app twice. The first time in Florence, Rome and Venice Italy and most recently in New Orleans. I found it a great way to navigate unfamiliar streets and make up a custom walk of things I liked.

Most intuitive and helpful feature missing - showing on the map your saved and bookmarked locations. How do they not have that? Utter frustration, waste of money and time

This app uses battery power in your iPhone very fast. I started with 100 percent power and ended up with 10 percent in 20 minutes.

While the app is cheaper than hiring a walking guide in each city, there should be more functionality to it. I downloaded it for one city and was only able to take one neighborhood walking tour. There were other neighborhoods available but only for sightseeing walks, which weren’t worth it. It felt a little lazy just to include pictures of famous landmarks and attractions without historical context. If I just wanted to look at pretty buildings I could Google that or look at Instagram. Seeing as though I was only able to do one neighborhood discovery walk, the app was not worth it to me, luckily I used the 3 day free trial. I would not be opposed to paying more for more tours within each city/having each sightseeing walk be a discovery walk. I did like the flexibility of having the tour read to me , but having an actual human read it versus an autonomous voice would be better as well as having easier access to the voice option.
