This app is literally trash, no matter what I try to do with these settings nothing works! I downloaded this app so that way I can give this number to the students I work with without having to compromise my own number. But I literally never get any notifications! For example, I don’t receive text message notifications unless I open the app, and even when I’m supposed to receive calls it won’t forward to my phone so I can answer the call. They just send an email saying “Missed Call” like gee Google thanks for being useless and not even ringing to begin with. I definitely do not recommend!

1). It would be very helpful if it allows me to ‘speak’ the text message that I selected/‘press and hold.’ It’s very dandy to quickly listen to a long text messages without having to read it (and also for accessibly purposes). The way it is now, I have to copy the text, then open note pad, paste it, select the text again and press ‘speak.’ - come on Google, let’s make it more user friendly and easier for accessibility. 2). On the older GV browser, the older version of this app, and the Hangouts app, we could add a ‘star’ to favorite conversations/phone#/voicemails, but that is missing in this ‘newer’ app versions. Please add this feature back ASAP. ***** 3). It will help greatly to make a simple way to edit and create contacts on the GV app/account without having to login through a browser or give full access to the phone/tablet/etc - I want to separate the two so I know which contact is which, after all my GV number is made for a purpose and needs to be easily distinguished when it comes to contacts. 4). Back in the day, we could see the ‘city and state’ next to the phone number when I was texting or calling (to know if it’s a random spam number or someone I’ve never seen before). But now its missing unless I go to the ‘legacy’ version on the browser. Bring it back please on the app!!!

App stalls, freezes and it can take as long as a minute or more for text to appear, even though the notification appears in the icon immediately. It’s like it was coded in the 90’s - slow, unresponsive and barely able to function in a multitasking environment. Behaves like you’re back in 1998 waiting for your 2400 baud dialup modem. Truly amazing how bad this app is from such a major company. Yes it’s the current version, yes it’s on a current phone, yes it has a ton of free memory and plenty of storage, but the app still stalls like a klunky old car. Truly awful

Google used to be with it. Now they’re not. They don’t understand their own users. Like Google itself, this product is rotting. It’s constantly dropping calls, not routing calls properly, sending calls strait to voicemail, freezing. They haven’t lifted a finger to address the increase in spam/spoof calls in years. There’s a filter spam button that does literally nothing. If it weren’t for the voicemail transcription, I would stop using this product in a heartbeat without a single regret. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this product in the Google Graveyard in the next couple years as they continue to fumble at making it worthwhile.

I made the mistake of trying to use this for work so I wouldn’t have to give out my personal number. Terrible idea. The app is too unreliable. Calls just don’t ring through sometimes (and also won’t show in call history), notifications for SMS often don’t come through, voicemails often will not play. It’s just terrible.
