I love this app!

I debated between goodnotes and notability. The main selling point for me was that notability charges a monthly subscription and goodnotes was a one time charge. I can't speak for the features of the other app, but I love this one. I wanted an app so I could take notes for my college courses. No more wasted paper and huge binder. Goodnotes has everything I need. Pretty easy to use after watching a tutorial. I am so happy I found this app.

I love this app, but it could be better!

I had written a very detailed and very nice review about this app and the features I think would make it way better, but I accidentally deleted it so, I will be brief-er. I love this app, specially the "add comment", "hand writing recognitions search", "snap into place shapes and lines", "hyperlinks" and "stickers" features. However, there are many thing that I think are missing that make me miss A LOT my previous note taking app. The things that I miss the most or could be added to this app that would, in my opinion, make it way better are the following: 1. Please add a dotted/dashed line option. It is tiring to do it manually! 2. I would like to be able to edit anything I write/draw. I can ONLY change the color. Not the thickness, opacity, type of pen or if I want a dotted line. 3. I sometimes need to adjust the size of my images, stickers, shapes, lasso tool selections, etc. But I don't always want to do it proportionally. I would love to be able to stretch and shrink these things as I want on height and width. 4. I also would like to be able to customize my shapes' color more. I want to fill my shapes with a solid color, I don't want it to be kind of transparent. I want to choose how transparent it is or the color of the perimeter line. 5. Finally, I think all users could be benefited by the addition of customizable tables in the app. It is a simple organization tool I have no doubt many people would use. I hope this helps, and that in the future updates at least some of these recommendations are added so this app can definitely become my number one!

Technology Issues

The app is superb for taking notes, but when it is coming to the part of syncing goodnotes across ipads, phones, and laptops it is really junk. I have all apple products, all goodnote 5 updated for each technology and I use the icloud sync function for all my goodnotes 5 apps and it is very frustrating when I am trying to take notes and upload documents at the same time and it takes so long to sync that I am unable to eficiently take notes on powerpoints. I also think that adding a "recording" feature to the app just like how notability has, will make the app even greater. I also think reinventing the app were it accepts all types of programs will be really beneficial as well because there was one document that was created through pages on mac and the only way I could import it was through notability, then export the file as a PDF version, AND THEN import it to goodnotes. I think being able to have a variety of access to other apps will make things run a lot smoother and faster. Overall, I would love to see this app become a lot more faster and effincent. While in school professors don't talk slow. The rate at which the app should be functioning should be producing at the same speed as how fast we talk on average.

Wont Update

I bought this App and been really happy with it, I use it to take notes on my iPad every day and I can later review them in my laptop, iPad or iPhone; I can search the text I write, get pics in my notes, its a really cool app.... but then the updates started comming, it wont update all devices by itself, so if it updates itself on a device and the other is not updated, then it wont sync and I end up looking for files/notes like crazy until a realize there was an update, then I have to fish for versions and see which device is not updated. Looking for alternatives, maybe Notability.

3.5 Stars for MacBook Air

I use this app on a daily basis primarily as my planner and to take school notes. It would perfect on the Mac if it didn't crash so often while I take notes. I also noticed that there's some kind of bug or glitch of where I'm stuck in "edit" mode and it would not change back to "unediting/view" mode or any other editing option. I always have to restart the app when this happens. Fortunately, I don't have any of these issues of the app crashing on my iphone or ipad.

Great app

I love this app. Worth the buy!

It’s a very impressive note taking app

The original premise behind GoodNotes was to be an amazing note taking app… it is that! I’ve read many reviews about how it’s missing certain features and honestly the vast majority of those features are more artistic features rather than features for a note taking app. While the original premise was for note taking, the app has evolved into a powerhouse for many other uses such has digital planning, drawing, and doodling, etc. I’ve had this app for over 3 years and I’m still in awe of how amazing it is. I appreciate the developers for consistently making the appropriate updates that keep this app relevant and competitive. If you are looking for an app that allows for: PDF import/export functionality, the ability to convert your written notes to text, functionality that allows for the ability to add hyperlinks to your document, the ability to share your document with others, and a wealth of other features and functions… this is the app for you. YouTube has a ton of tutorials that show you just how awesome this app is… buy it you will not be disappointed. I was not paid or offered incentives for my review

Almost perfect!

After using OneNote for a while and finding it doesn’t have all the features I want like importing PDFs and PowerPoint slides or a really good writing experience, and then trying Notability but not wanting to use a subscription based service, I decided to try GoodNotes. First impressions, very clean app with good organization! Love how the notebooks are more like real notebooks with page separation (you can choose not to separate though) and different page colors and styles as well as some really pretty covers. Also love the writing experience, like all the pen colors and sizes are nice and everything feels smooth and adding pictures are super easy. I’m really glad there’s a search function as well to easily find stuff in my notes. Though, I do have some problems with this app. I wish that I could put more than 3 pen colors at the top, I feel like a few more slots would be great. I would also love if the pen size could stay on each slot if that makes sense, kinda like OneNote, rather than me having the change the pen size every time I switch colors. I think it would be cool if like Notability there could be a voice recording feature, and paper styles with texture like real paper added. This is a smaller issue but it would be cool if some different folder colors were added as well for even better organization :) Overall really like this app but there are some improvements that could be made!

Big Goodnotes fan

I’ve been using Goodnotes for years and in my opinion it’s hands down the best note taking app out there. I’m a pre Med and this has been really useful for annotating slides. I’m also really happy it’s a one time purchase and not a subscription/freemium model. I’ve had a good number of friends switch over from other services recently because of this. My only point of dissatisfaction is that I wish the collaborative editing features were smoother. It would also be nice to have background recognition for adding things as elements so I could make sticker elements from PDFs.

Crashes

Crashes all the time, take forever to actually start the app to when you can start note taking.
