Stop using. Needs update.

Anonymous User 23579

Any web browser app needs frequent updates to fix security bugs. Otherwise the risk for users devices getting hacked increases. Everyone should stop using this app until there’s an update. Speaking of updates, Ghostery should release a local VPN feature that incorporates the pac WiFi protection into a local, on device proxy by way of VPN profile that can block ads and trackers on any WiFi or cellular network.

The new update has ruined Ghostery

Mloescher

I’ve used Ghostery for many years, and while it’s had a few problems, it’s been the best available. This new update might as well be chrome. I can no longer choose which trackers to block and worst of all, it doesn’t prevent the little video windows from displaying on the page. Some sites insist on having a video display at the top of the page and it turns into a pop up that scrolls with you as you go down the page. Ghostery no longer blocks that and it’s REALLY annoying.

Latest version crashes all the time

He ain't THAT good

New version 3.0: Asinine. Now every time I want to clear all data I have to take so many steps!!! Why won’t it allow me to set for it to not remember anything and clear everything with one click??? Why do I have to select them all one by one and then hit clear? The whole reason why I started using this App is because I could clear everything with one click and never have the browser remember anything so I could surf clean every single time. I don’t want any coach, history, cookie or any of them remembered. I don’t need to surf so quickly with all of them saved. I want to clear all of it as quickly as possible and surf blankly. Not going to use it any more. I’m done. Useless app

No longer works on my iPad

Spedtwo2

I have used Ghostery for many years and it has worked reasonably well (some sites don’t allow ad blockers). However, recent updates appear to cause the app to crash when launched so I cannot use it now. Ghostery needs to do a better job of testing or not allow the app to update on incompatible devices.

Didn’t want to say goodbye ?

I liked the look of the new version, but the functionality suffered. Found more and more problems as I used it. Moved on to Duck Duck Go browser. Thanks for the memories I guess.

Was very happy with this until update to version three.

Update: just get duck go duck browser, it does what Ghostery did before version 3. Yay.... With the advent of version three I am no longer to save my credentials when logging onto Facebook. The app always used to say there were no trackers or anything on Facebook and now it’s showing 15 trackers and other things but when I click on it it does not show details like it used to. Somethings wrong here.

Lame update

Covertfreq

Now a certain social networking site has detected I’m using a mobile browser even in desktop mode without ghost mode. Sorry devs, you just weakened your app with the recent update.

Can’t clear cache

Me again?

It seems like clearing the cache doesn’t do anything. Checking the storage on my iPad confirms this. The only way to do it is to delete and reinstall the app.

Default Browser?

Than[Q]

I’ve used Ghostery on my computers for a while now, however I just got it on my phone. I’ve been looking for a way to make this my default browser. I no longer want Safari to be my default, if there is a way, that would be great. I just haven’t found this to be an option yet.

It’s Cliqz rebranded as Ghostery

The Ghostery browser used to closely match the functionality of the Ghostery desktop browser extension. The current version looks and behaves exactly like their patent company’s now discontinued browser, Cliqz. Gone are the Ghostery features I depended on, like seeing the number of blocked trackers at the top of each page, being able to see which trackers were blocked, and changing the blocking behavior of for each tracker. The new Ghostery (and old Cliqz) may very well block the same trackers but it only gives you a summary by category of the trackers blocked and you cannot change the behavior. This is a big downgrade for people who used Ghostery because of the features it used to have. I hope they will integrate those features into this Cliqz/Ghostery codebase.
