"For those of us who grew up with the Fighting Fantasy books, this is almost like a homecoming. It’s a great modern equivalent to the books many of us loved as youngsters, with the same kind of attention to detail and thrilling fantastical touches that made these adventures so enjoyable. A splendidly written interactive fantasy story that will keep you hooked until the very end." - POCKETGAMER (8 out of 10 review)

"...a series of lovingly crafted and extremely well-written interactive fantasy novels. It's surprisingly engrossing stuff, the economically written narrative packing in masses of detail, while rattling out a pacey, involving story." - THE GUARDIAN

"Gamebook Adventures are fun to read – not just because the RPG mechanic draws you in and engages you in the story, but also because the stories are good fantasy fiction. The artwork is great and there is a great deal of replayability in the application, especially when you consider the hundreds of choices that can be made and the various difficulties." - WIRED.COM

"After finally making my way through the series’ newest release, I’m somewhat ashamed that I’ve waited so long to take the plunge..." - 148APPS

great series!

All the volumes are wonderful. Takes me back to 'my choose your own adventure' books.

Wow, another great adventure!

Wish there were more like this out there on OS. These games take me back to my childhood and bring me an epic sense of living an adventure. Don't pass this one up!

Challenging, but fair!
Dahak66

The best of the GA series so far, Spider God introduces a new phobia element to the series. As a phobia roll is alway against a target of 7, it remains a challenge even on novice difficulty. There are far fewer instant death passages, making it quite a bit fairer than earlier books. The writing is evocative and immersive. It only suffers in the vagueness of several "Or do you do something else?" entries. Full colour art is a nice addition to the already high production values of the series. Highly recommended!

A step up from an already high-level gamebook series!
Juuicetin

Having owned all the previous installments of Tin Man Games previous gamebooks, this one is a great improvement on the pre-existing system. With the addition of phobia checks and partners to help you in battle, it really helps to add more diversity to the gameplay. The illustrations in the book are very high quality and the best by far and the story is on par with the better gamebooks in the series from judging after my first playthrough. Overall, I am enjoying the new game mechanics and I would recommend to anyone already a fan of the series or even a newcomer who has read the description and seems mildly interested.

Fix
Plymab

Fix the combat system...you keep having to re-fight fights you just won on the next roll check. Also, while youre at it, spice up the combat with more depth , variables etc....rolling a 6 sided dice over and over gets tedious.

Please fix!!!!
Krell717

Would enjoy game better if they would fix the re-rolling of checks and combat. Very annoying to have to re-roll results and fail them after you passed them the first time. Giving one star until the problem is fixed.

Needs to be fixed
Methehand

I agree with earlier reviewers that this game is not worth playing until they fix the repeating roll/combat bug. Once that's done, it should be fun and will deserve a new review.

Fix it please
PartyMarty710

As soon as you fix that re-combat bug you'll have a winner

Buggy on iPad2 as well
Dave in San Francisco

This is a fun take on the old Choose Your Own Adventure books, with a simple combat system added in. I'd give it 4 or 5 stars, except for a few bugs. I experienced a few random crashes on my iPad2. Not necessarily a big deal - restarting the app took me right to where I'd left off. A few times, I did a fitness or a phobia roll and then wound up back on the page without any possible action. I had no choice but to restart the game from scratch. A couple of other times, I undefeated a monster, and then in the next battle. I'd wind up facing that same monster rather than the one I was supposed to be facing. If I won, I'd wind When up on a page once again with no valid option to move forward. As above, my only choice was to restart the game from scratch. I did manage to play the game all the way through once to the end, which is why I give it 2 stars rather than one, But bugs that make you restart from the beginning are pretty much a deal breaker for me. When these issues get fixed, I'll happily change this to a four or five star rating.
