Best app app but...

I love this app. However I just got a new Foscam R2 V3 and it won’t let see the camera outside of WiFi. All of my other cameras work. This is the only one that does not. It’s also the newest. Maybe there is a fix that hasn’t come out yet?

One day I can change my motion alert settings, the next day nope! It drives me crazy. I pay monthly for this feature and can’t use it most of the time!!!

New version can't add cameras

Since the major overhaul update, I can't add any cameras. I tried removing a working one, and it won't let me add that, either. It says invalid password. Multiple emails to support have gone unanswered. Not sure what's going on, Owlr has been fantastic before. Old reviews: Immeasurably better than the foscam official app. This shouldn't be such an amazing thing. If this is the first app you try, you may not understand the great reviews. It's a pretty simple app, and it works as it should. The reason that's amazing is that every other app out there is next to useless. Even the very few that actually manage to connect to a camera usually crash if you try to send commands to it, or actually use the audio functionality; and connecting from outside the local network? Hah! This, though? No problems. I did have to open up the correct ports, of course, and do the port forwarding correctly - but I've had that set up for ages and the other apps were pretty useless. And on top of all that? This actually connects *quickly* -- even when the foscam app WAS functioning it would usually take 20-30 seconds before it managed to connect and display anything. This one works as soon as the app opens, and it even grabs shots of all connected cameras, so you can see everything at a glance. This app essentially has turned an irritating experience into an effortless one, and they make it look easy. Well done! Months later - still the best app for foscam! Years later, while the foscam app is greatly improved and works very well for setting up the camera initially, or if you want push notification on your phone enabled, this is still the best for day to day usage.

I have multiple Foscam cameras and have been using the “main” app. After upgrading to iOS 11, it stopped working. I decided to check out OWLR and am super impressed with the app. It’s super duper easy to setup the cameras, both internally and externally. Thank you OWLR!! Woot woot!

This system is so fast at setting up, I couldn't keep up. How easy can something be and not be done for you. Maybe it is because everything works right off the batt. Amazing! OBJ

Motion detect does not work

While I like the speed of the app, the motion detect feature is not working on my iPad. I signed up for the 14 day free trial in the App Store, but that is not reflected in the app which continually bugs me to sign up for the feature. Too bad, because it would be great IF it worked. I have emailed the company, but have had no response. FYI, I read and went through their FAQs on the issue and it should be working, but it is not.

Constantly disconnecting.

When using a LTE connection the camera loads up pretty fast! I have tried many of the free and paid apps. This app is very easy to setup. I decided to pay the monthly fee which I feeel is reasonable. My only complaint is when it's really sunny the camera Image is way too bright that it's hard to see. There's other apps that let you adjust brightness contrast and other settings. I like the other app just for the ability to set camera so the sun does not block out some of the viewing area. I just installed this app on my iPhone and iPad Pro and they both work great except for the brightness issue. Maybe this app allows you to adjust the Image but I have not found the tools to do so. It would be great if you guys added the feature to adjust the image. I have another Foscam that I plan to use so I'm not sure if I must pay extra to use more then one camera. The current camera connected is a Foscam HD P&T with camera Zoom. The zoom is not the type that relies on software to zoom in and out with the apps etc. i'm not sure how to explain that part. My second camera does not have the zoom functionality like the first camera. I paid about $50 less for the second non zoom camera and the software that can use what I call fake zoom does not come close to having a camera with built in zoom capability. Spend the extra money to get the built in zoom it's worth it!! The other app I use when on my local wifi works great since I can adjust the color, brightness, sharpness and other settings. However when I go outside my network the app with the nice added features does not connect all the time, could be that I get impatient with it and I revert to using this app. This app loads up my camera real fast when I switch to LTE to see how the camera responds if I am at work or away from my house. The camera works well with very little lag if any. I would like to be able to adjust the length of the recording when motion is detected. When I view the images in my email accounts sometimes it does not capture the whole entire image of movement. I had a friend walk around the camera to find out how much is recorded sent to my email account. Is there a way to adjust the video to record longer images? If the images were taken with snap shots then is it possible to increase the timing so I can watch at least 30 seconds of video or still frame pics. I do believe this is recorded in video when motion is detected because the images that I have in my email do move but it's not long enough to determine what's really going on in my opinion. Next Read, For the people who have no clue about how to use Port forwarding rules I would let the app change your port forward settings for you. This is a great feature most other apps do not do. Most of the other apps make you input everything which is hard or easy to do depending on the manufacturer of your router. If you are connected to your own network and have some knowledge about how to change router settings. The hard part for most is understanding how to input the router service provider IP address assigned. You need this information in order to start the setup to view your camera outside your network. In addition to having your routers Internet IP address you will need to find the camera IP address the router assigned to your camera. . Once you get the camera IP address then you need to find out how to make the IP address the router assigned to your camera into a Static IP address! The new Verizon high end router makes this very easy to do. If you mess up your router trying to add your camera you can reset the router back to factory defaults. This is very important if you decide to add more then one camera!! Or if you have to reboot your router for various reasons such as a fast power failure and to many things that can mess with your network such as devices causing issues. Once you make your camera IP address static this will keep the IP cameras numbers the same. If you don't convert the cameras IP address numbers to static then things like power failures, resetting the router can and in most cases reassign the IP numbers randomly. Then suddenly your camera viewing apps will no longer work!! You will have to start over and go through the whole setup process once again. So learn how to turn your assigned cameras IP address to static which must be done by changing the router settings! It's easy and you will no longer go through lots of frustrating moments.. I have been messing with IP camera since they came to market. I have roughly 14 cameras that I was forced to abandoned when Verizon quit the home monitor program. I'm able to access the cameras using a PC and try to use another manufacturer firmware to update the cameras hoping the firmware will remove Verizon's log in credentials. I paid for each camera and I feel they owe it to all camera owners the user/password to let us use the cameras once again. My hope is this app will support more then one camera. Email push issues, I had an issue with push notifications after the last cam app update.I thought my email settings changed after an iOS update which drove me crazy! It was not related to phone settings or iOS update! so don't waste your time if your still getting normal emails from others. The fix, even though email setup in the camera app shows everything is correct I decided to overwrite the email information within the app. As soon as I hit the finish button my email alerts started working again! I hope this helps.
