Favorite game

Final Fantasy Tactics is my absolute favorite game. Downloaded this a while ago but was checking to see if they had FF8 (they don't :/) and saw this and figured I'd finally write a review. I was not surprised to see it had a 5 star rating. This is just such an amazing game, storyline and all. The amount of time trying to steal the armor from Elmdor though... Lol! If you like turn-based, chess-like, fantasy-related, hyphen-crazy, final-fantasy-games, games-games then you'll love this. ;)

Great, but iCloud doesn't work

I love everything about this game except some squares are hard to select, especially when they are surrounded by tall terrain or objects. Otherwise, a great game. I am having issues with saving to iCloud. When I try, the app just unsuccessfully times out. Sometimes, I'll back out (or the app crashes) and return to find the save to iCloud actually happened, but sometimes, it did not. Definitely a bug with the iCloud.

I absolutely love being able to play this classic but there are some small issues that could be resolved via patch. After losing my 1st battle & upon loading my save file the main character "Ramza" was a blacked out on the player list. This was the case for a few playthroughs. Also the equipment will appear distorted on screen. This actually hasn't corrected itself yet. These are small things but overall I'm loving this! Thank you!

Save file constantly gets erased and the game does this on purpose with no way to stop it or make a duplicate save.

Great but issue with Cloud saves

The port is great. I have not encountered and glitches or forced closing. Touch screen isn't bad at all. The camera takes a bit of getting used to but once you play around it's not an issue. For those who don't read the app description: This isn't (is not) a universal app. Kind of a poor decision on SE... So be wary on what device you pick this up on. Major flaw: I have enabled iCloud saves within the game menu, but every time I save in the iCloud game save (only allows 1 iCloud save spot; 3 local saves) it claims to be saved but when you go in to load the game, or save over the last game save, there shows no data. Major issue if you are playing on multiple devices. Even if you're playing on one device, it's bad because you can't have a cloud back up of a game that you can spend dozens upon dozens of hours in. This needs to be fixed... Which isn't likely because this game hasn't been updated in 2 years... :/

The game itself plays well, however...

The game itself seems to play fine. I'm choosing to rate this 1/5 stars because we've had the wider screen iPhones for just about THREE YEARS and SquareEnix continues to leave these games with the black bars on the sides.

A classic with some technical issues

I've played more of this game on my iPhone than I ever did on ps1. I never had the patience to play but being able to just pick it up and go is a great motivator. All in all this is a pretty good port. It does take some time getting used to the microscopic menu selections but you get used to it after a while. My only major issue with this game is a technical one: it crashes constantly on startup before the main menu and several times during gameplay. This seems to be completely random, possibly a compatibility issue with the iPhone 6. Still, I keep coming back to it and plan to finally finish it this time around.

For an expensive app running on the latest iPhone...

I give the game itself 5 stars. Hell, I'd give it 10 if I could. But recently it keeps crashing on me when I first open the game from my home screen. It happened on my old phone, and now my new phone. Please fix because I love this game and want to keep playing it.

Very few complaints. Controls were hard to understand at first, and the gameplay started out very difficult, but I found it got easier on both counts as time went on. It does drain battery quickly though.
