Three star port of a five star game

Just as the title describes. FFT itself is a fantastic game - the story and gameplay are simply amazing and imo have held up well to today’s standards. That being said, I have some issues with this port which adds some needless frustrations to the experience. For one, not having a quick save feature certainly detracts from playing on the go. You have to make sure to block off enough time to complete each battle. Keep in mind battles can last for 20 minutes or more. Another gripe is it can be sometimes hard to angle the camera and select the tile you’d like to move to, attack, etc. It can be very challenging to use your finger to select the right tile and the camera angle is sometimes impossible to adjust in order to see the tile or enemy you’d like to. Additionally, when using arithmetic skill to see which enemies/allies are affected if you change the camera view it will kick you out and you have to reselect the calculations and spell - can be annoying. As others have mentioned, they have sped up many of the animations, to the point it is hard to see what is even happening in the attack/spell and kind of detracts of the “coolness” factor of it. I wish there was a way to toggle this on and off. One last issue I can think of is for whatever reason the party screen is harder to navigate than I feel it should be, especially as the game progresses and you have many rows of characters. Anywho, the port *is* playable and I never had any issues with crashing. For that reason, I give the this an overall rating of a 4. If you plan to buy this game, know these are some issues you will have to deal with in addition to the price for playing a great game of your past.
WotL Slowdown on iOS

When I put WotL on my PSP I had to install a live patch to remove the slowdowns. iOS version of WotL has the slowdowns and is a laggy mess in general. Played on iPhone XR
Game runs FAR too fast...

Was enjoying this, but on the very first battle the game is running way too fast to even keep track of what’s going on. Animations are 2-3 times their vanilla speed, spells that would take 5 seconds to complete in the OG are now finished in the blink of an eye, and it’s impossible to watch and enjoy the unfolding of strategy or implementation of tactics when a turn for both sides runs so rapidly. I loved watching the beautifully drawn spells animate, now that’s far less enjoyable and hence so is the game. I’m running on iPhone 6. When this is fixed I’ll up my rating but am not holding my breath considering Square’s treatment of their iOS attempts. Update 12/29/2018 Game still runs way too fast. No updates made to change this. I don’t see this mentioned too much, probably because those who are giving this high reviews never played on the original hardware. SLOW THE GAME DOWN.

For some reason when I bought the phone version of this game it synched with my iPad and downloaded automatically. My apps do that for some reason. Anyway, not sure if the software version is wrong for the iPad but after 18 hours of playing on the iPad (bigger screen so why not), it deleted my save file. I’d saved dozens of times without issue but suddenly it wouldn’t hold a save. I noticed this when I went to overwrite my last save after a battle and my save was gone. I’m the end it wouldn’t hold a save. It would act like it saved but if I clicked load it would say no save data found. Anyway, super annoying so I’m giving my all time favorite game 1 Star and asking the developers to fix this bug please.
Not made for iPad version.

This version is made for mobile and not iPad as you will not be able to play it full screen but with black bars on the sides. There is a separate iPad version that is full screen and more suited for big screens. Do not make the mistake of buying the wrong version for your device as Square Enix nor Apple will refund you if you purchased the wrong version.

Give us more control options. I would love to play this game through AirPlay on my tv with a Bluetooth controller. Instead I’m forced to use the touchscreen. I feel like that should be easy

The first app I ever bought five years ago, longing for the nostalgia. I love this game and they did a great job re-releasing it on the iPhone. Just missing the online aspect to earn rare loot. Still one of the best investments ever!

And companies like u love downgrading shhhht save in battle no longer available ????? apple ? suckks and I want a refund for a game switching to down graded incomplete version with out my say in it
