Don’t get

Muffinbomb

It’s good, has features and you can make your own homebrew characters but is blocked by a paywall. I just picked this so I can make characters on mobile too but I could only make one. If you wanted to roll another char you’d have to pay for it. $3 isn’t bad but I wasn’t expecting this to be asking for my money.

Good App for a few Characters

SmokeytheJer

If you’re looking for a free app that can make a few basic characters at lower levels (not much for options pre-installed). This is fine enough. However, there’s issues. When there’s more than a few sheets (which you have to pay for), I’m constantly opening up character sheets and finding that spells, and feats are duplicated between sheets. Items sometimes go missing, photos get unbound and changes to one character can affect others for reasons that I cannot explain. Issues like this are making it hard to depend on the sheets to stay accurate between uses.

FIX BUG!

some wild child

I’m new to dnd so I decided to make a online character sheet since I’m good with electronics so I saw this and downloaded it and guess what? I made a new character a paladin added my spells traits stuff like that and after 5 hours whada Bing whada boom new character I saved it we’re good. Next morning I get up and I go to my uncles house to play dnd and guess what? We’re about to take out the board and start playing and I open up the app, WHOOSH my whole entire character was gone as if I never even went on the app. So I couldn’t even play dnd that day because this stupid app messed up. 1 STAR

Character categories

I know this app probably doesn’t get updates anymore, but I think it would be nice to have tabs for characters to clean up all the characters that I’ve made. Like for this campaign, there’s these characters, and such on. I’m not sure if I’m making sense, but all I’m saying is that it would be a little nicer if I could keep all my characters that I’ve made organized and neat. P.S. I’m a DM so I make a lot of npcs through here.

Great... mostly

Going to start with the bad, move on to areas I think can be improved, and end with all the things I really love about this app. The bad: it’s not great for new players. It’s certainly not bad, but it doesn’t prevent you from making mistakes when creating your character, so you can add incorrect tool/skill proficiencies, or too many feats or spells, or mix and match class features that shouldn’t really go together (which is also a great thing that I’ll mention below, it’s just not great for new players who might do it without realizing how it can be a problem). And I don’t think it’s very hard to avoid, I just wish it had a message or something to make you aware if you’ve done it. Second, it doesn’t always calculate stats correctly (I’ve noticed this for a barbarian’s Unarmored Defense, and I’d imagine there’s likely other things as well). For less experienced players, I’d recommend having another player or your GM help you go through it to (hopefully) catch any of those issues. Areas that could be better: obviously fixing any incorrect calculations, and some sort of warning to let you know if there’s something off when creating your character. Past that- it’d be nice if it added trackers for class or racial abilities automatically when you earn them (you can add them yourself, it’s just inconvenient). It would also be handy to be able to simply indicate when you’re being affected by a spell or ability that increases (or decreases) your stats and have that reflected automatically, rather than having to add each of the different effects in individually as a separate condition. In addition, it would be great to be able to see exactly HOW it’s calculating things like your AC, or skills, to help identify when a bonus is getting calculated incorrectly. In addition, the calculator that lets you set up a custom combination of rolls and bonuses is great, but it would also be nice if you could save those and keep them available, instead of having to re-enter it every single time. Furthermore, I’d love to see some more filters or a search function for when you’re adding equipment (the Android version of the app has a search option for equipment, but the iPad version for some reason doesn’t seem to have that). Finally, it’d be nice if it already included the content from things like Xanathar’s Guide to Everything or Tasha’s Cauldron (that said, some industrious folks have put that all together, and it only takes a couple minutes to locate the xml files online and just load them into the Compendium, but... still). The good: it’s convenient, got a great layout, you can search and quickly find any spell descriptions, you can pull up a calculator to roll to whatever combination of dice and bonuses you want (which is REALLY useful when you’ve got several effects or modifiers that are stacking with each other), you can add custom equipment/spells/feats, and (assuming you’ve consulted with your GM, and it’s intentional) you can bend/break the rules to create your character however you see fit. Those last two especially are something I love to have available, since it offers more flexibility in the characters and adventure, and it’s great to have all these features together in one nice neat place. Add a quick Google search to locate files for the content that doesn’t come included in the app itself, and you’ve got quite the package. Some definite room for improvement, but absolutely my favorite DnD app so far.

Great app

Love the premium version great app better than using a sheet sometimes, but some of these classes need to be updated.

Such a Great Tool for Players

bookwrm36

I cannot recommend this app enough. It is such a great tool for keeping track of your characters' abilities, HP, and inventory. I love the trackers/counters that you can have reset on short/long rests especially, and greatly appreciate how much you can customize these. The compendium (which I would recommend searching around for an expanded version with 5e expansions) is such a great tool for spells, beasts, and gear. It is super easy to look up a spell or an item. Playing as a druid, having the ability to see all my prepared spells as well as all available wildshape options is so, so useful. And once I'm in wildshape, I can track the HP and abilities of the beast separate from my own. There are a couple of things I would request. First, it used to be when you leveled up that you could enter in your rolled HP. Now, you have to roll in the app until you get the number you want (since I use physical dice to roll). Please give us back the option to enter manually! Second, I would like the ability to manually mark advantage/disadvantage for skill checks, saves, and attacks. The app automatically marks disadvantage on stealth for applicable armors, which is great, but if I for example have an item or ability that gives me advantage on initiative rolls, I can't mark that. Or if I'm playing a Kalashtar with advantage on Wisdom saving throws, I'd like an indicator on my Wisdom save. Third, it would be helpful to have a list of language proficiencies readily available. It is easy to access tool and skill proficiencies, but I'm always digging for my language proficiencies. Resistances/vulnerabilites/immunities would also be useful to have in one place. This app definitely takes some playing around with to get comfortable and explore all its options, but once you have a grasp of what it is capable of, you can do so much customization and management.

Not all archatetype

alexberti

They do not have all of the classes archetypes I mean otherwise it’s good apart from the feats and backgrounds I would also hope that they would add things from subltumentery materials and all the spells along with the slaad and Kuo toa pixie etc. but apart form that it’s pretty good

Good! (One question)

nsd36

This app allows me to be very organized with character profiles. However, it took me a while to play with the settings and all but I got used to it, also, I accidentally killed a character and now instead of the hit point bar it says deceased. Can someone help me with this? I want it to be back to normal.

Just one little thing...

GroggyToad

GREAT APP, simple as that. The UI and layout is amazing and it makes transferring files A BREEZE. My only one little thing... Please let us drag items into storage containers. PLEASE!!
