Total garbage app

Iphonekritik

Even within the universe that is Liberty Media and their extremely buggy F1TV offering, this app is relatively pure rubbish. The F1TV product already has so many shortcomings, outages, quirks, you might be wondering what could possibly make their service more frustrating? Well wonder no more, this is the app you’ve been looking for. Thus far this season Ive really only experienced one true outage of the F1TV service itself but the app version has let me down on more than half of the times Ive tried it. Using Safari on iOS results in pretty much the same level of quirkiness and frustration we’re all used to, I will just stick with the browser. No need to add another layer of non-functionality.

No Apple airplay support

I might actually use if I could use it with AirPlay or on Apple TV.

Don’t bother

Most of the time the live streaming fails during the race, so you end up frustrated. One of the worst offerings ever.

I expect more from one of the biggest Media companies in the world.

Absolutely ridiculous that a sport that purports to be on the forefront of technology doesn’t have basic functionality built into its own mobile app. Come on guys, the app needs Airplay. I mean you can Airplay your entire screen to your Apple TV but you don’t get full screen on the video, so I end up just using Safari and browsing to the F1 TV website to watch. At least that way I can get closer to full screen. This is so basic. Needs to be fixed ASAP before we get too far into the season. Would also really like to see a native Apple TV app released so I don’t have to deal with Airplay at all. Other than that, the app seems to be getting better. I don’t have the crashing and other issues that many seem to be plagued with (I use on an iPad Pro and iPhone X), although I’d like some basic functionality added to it like 10 or 15sec skip forward and skip back buttons. The ability to resume where you left off, mark favorite videos, and view your watch history list are also table stakes in the streaming video market circa 2019, and given F1 is owned by Liberty MEDIA you’d think that they would accept nothing less than the best from their streaming app, especially considering how much they’re asking us to pay for the season. Needless to say the app really needs a major rework.

Need to reinstall every time i use it

When the app is working, it actually works well. Streaming video is good quality. However, I always get stuck in a loop where it makes me log in over and over, and tells me I’m not in a valid area. But if i delete the app and reinstall, I can log in and watch just fine—until the app closes and the cycle begins again.

Awful

It’s difficult to understand what features you get with each different type of subscription. My experience through the App Store is that your existing level of subscription is retained until expiration - regardless of when you upgrade. So, if you’re trying to upgrade right before a race, you’re out of luck. No instant gratification here...

Poorly constructed app. Doesn't work with Apple TV

Very buggy. Video is good on iPad but terrible in Apple TV. Sometimes you can't change rotation on Apple TV so the video displays in vertical mode... When screen sharing the video flickers... Save your money until they fix these many problems

Bugs galore. The app and website has issues. The only reason I have the app is I can’t get sky sports in America. Lol. ESPN coverage is longer than f1

Curious what the bug fixes and improvements were on the latest update

Ro2910

Because it still has all the same bugs and no improvements. This app is great.... if all you want to watch is the live feed. If you want to switch cameras to the onboard or to the data page then the app will go to a random lap, usually ten or so behind the race and will never be in sync. If you’re lucky enough to get the onboard in sync then good luck keeping it there if you want to switch to another camera. Also, almost every time I load the app I get a message saying I’m in the wrong region. So I need to restart my iPhone or iPad in order to reset the app. Anytime I inform F1 TV of the issue I get the standard “Uninstall the app and reinstall” instruction. I can tell you that the problem isn’t at my end. If your current IT team can’t fix this app you need to hire a new one. Isn’t F1 meant to be the forefront of technology?

So. Many. Bugs.

It rarely works, but when it does it’s great. Right now I can’t even see this season and it’s only showing me 2018 races. Reinstalling the app every week is getting tiresome.
