Not sure what’s happening...

I love this app but lately it’s been crashing a lot. Can’t listen to anything without constantly having to restart. Hope you all fix it soon.

Great service. New update crashes

NTR1844

This is a fantastic service. One of the best. The latest update crashes at the end of every audiobook chapter.

All-you-can-eat Audible

This has become my go-to service for reading and audio materials. And then they went and ditched their (limiting) credits system . . . . making Scribd more valuable than Audible. Better price plus all-you-can-eat content? Sign me up!

Still great

I’m so glad that the credits are gone. I’ve signed up again. But now that I have an iPad Pro I notice that things are just strange on this device. Just very buggy layout on some pages and you can’t really read vertically. No sure why that doesn’t get fixed. Some books the text is unreadable as words are overlaid (this was a full color graphic book).

Great app! Love it!

I’m so glad I finally found Scribd! The app is well designed and easy to use. The monthly subscription price is within my budget and offers so much. I love the selection of audiobooks I have access to as well as the sheet music. Great app!

App works great. But Scribd broke my heart in pieces with new credit system

Kinthed

The app is great. But my issue is with the new credit system. I've been using Scribd on two accounts in my household for the last year. I was happy when it was books and would pay for 2-3 months then take one month off. Then they added audiobooks and I was thrilled. No more breaks. No need to even use my kindle anymore. No more Audible. Thrilled at a level where I can say Scribd actually changed my quality of life. I knew they couldn't sustain this buffet, but to cut back so extremely... So many of us will bail. My wish would be that they offered some other option that gave users more than one per month. If I had to pay three months in advance but got bonus audiobooks, that would be fine. Or pay $15/month for unlimited books plus 2-3 audiobooks. Looking at my history I see one month this year I heard 6-8 books but other months just one audiobook. There has to be some other solution, Scribd. Please don't send me back to Audible. For now I'm using public library, hoopla, and checking out TuneIn which launched a Scribd alternative. I will miss you bunches my old friend. Review of the App: I've been downloading audio books and ebooks to my device when I am on wifi. Then head to office and listen to books stored in the app, with no worries about misusing my cellular data plan. No complaints about the development behind this app. Only issue I encounter is the app hanging when I have already downloaded book via wifi and later try to listen while at location with cellular signal issues. Sometimes have to restart app every 20-30 minutes. Update 2018: still having issues with the app failing. But it's worse now. Happy they brought a pseudo-unlimited version to us. But the app closing itself after each chapter is driving me nuts. For example the book I'm listening to is broken into 85 chapters. Each chapter I have to walk to the back of the studio and reopen the app and find it in the Saved list and start the audio again. It's aggravating.

Great service, horrendous app

bsbigshot29

The idea for the service is awesome. All you can read for $9 a month?! Sign me up. However, the app is very bad. About one hour worth of use kills my new iPhone X battery by about 50%. When listening to audiobooks, they often stop playing. Hard to tell if the app is totally crashing or is just randomly pausing the audio. I can’t possibly recommend downloading this app until the developers address these issues.

Good collection, excellent pricing but a really bad app

For the past two months I have been exploring various apps (kindle unlimited, Amazon audible, audiobooks) for accessing ebooks and audiobooks. With unlimited access to ebooks and audiobooks , scribd is hands down the best option and cheaper than any option above as well. While audible has the largest audiobooks collection , it’s $50 more expensive per year and yet you can download only one audiobook every month for free and need to pay for rest. If you want ebooks, kindle unlimited is another $10.00 per month but their collection is much much smaller compared to scribd (please note that a Kindle unlimited gives you access to only a very very small fraction of ebooks in Amazon ) . Comparatively for $9 a month Scribed has a much larger collection they keep adding more too . Coming to the app, there are a few things I would love to see improved : (1) The "read screen" feature that iOS provides is something I use quite extensively while reading ebooks in apps like Kindle at it speeds up my reading speed considerably , but unable to use it in scribd because it's quite buggy. (2) Night reading mode (black background with white font, and a sepia ) and Choice of fonts to choose from for ebooks, works well on iPad but the options don’t show up on IPhone ( I have 6s plus ) . Also it would be better to have the same set of font options available for all ebooks (3) A nice to have feature would be more granularity in choosing reading speed than just 1x, 1.25, 1.5, 2x etc.. The big jump makes one option slow and the next option fast. More granularity option will appeal will to people with different speed preferences

I’ve used this app for a few years now and it’s only gotten better. It’s become my go to app for reading and beaten out the big guys like Amazon and Apple. Save money, read books. Go to the library. Get Scribd.
