No, absolutely not fun

ClayKroh

I like the Cthulhu mythos and normally enjoy these types of games, but definitely despise this game. The slot machine quality of gameplay on normal difficulty felt rigged in a weak effort at simulating the kind of challenging play that is traditional to games in the mythos genre; I did not bother to experience the undoubtedly more extreme rigging that must take place at higher difficulties. Wow, am I disgruntled over the wasted money on this fraudulent experience. Thankfully I didn’t throw away any more on in-game expansions. ?

Fun and Challenging and very Lovecraftian

I am a veteran of many years of the Call of Cthulhu RPG (many years ago), and the Arkham Horror board game. Both of those games required lots of time to set up, and friends who wanted to invest lots of time playing with me. This gets me my Lovecraft fix... it's faithful to many of the Fantasy Flight game mechanics, which in turn borrows on the old Chaosium RPG sanity mechanics. Very cool. Clean art. I like the varying strategies (picking your team) and the tactics (matching the investigator to the adventure...). The game feels fresh on replay, as there is enough randomness to make you shift your tactics. Fun and very balanced, and probably my favorite game on the iPad right now. SANITY CHECK!

Terrific

A great board game that's been given a terrific port. One of the most enjoyable games I own, money well spent. I plan on getting all the upgrades. I hope that Fantasy Flight brings more of its board games to the iOS!

Awesome solitaire strategy game

Some Ageless Furnace

Elder Sign: Omens is a solitaire cousin to the popular cooperative board game, Arkham Horror. This version relies on a dice-rolling mechanic to advance through various adventures as the player races to stop the machinations of the evil Elder Gods. Time pressure takes various forms as events unfold, slowing your progress in some areas, but opening other avenues to explore. The player will need to acquire and ration resources as circumstances dictate. Failure is a very real threat; success requires planning, judgment, and just a hint of good fortune. And if you master the base game, the expansions take the challenge to the next level. The iOS adaptation is splendid, with rich visuals and smooth animations, as well as interstitial video to move the plot along. My only minor gripes about the game are the selection gesture, which relies on drags where taps would suffice, and a bug that can lock you out of the UI (if you leave your inventory exposed while the clock ticks forward to midnight). The game would also lend itself naturally to both achievements and leader boards; hopefully Game Center integration will be added in a future update. Finally, it should be noted that a full game takes a while to complete (upwards of an hour, or more for the expansions). Still, the core game is so cool, challenging, and satisfying that I'm giving it five stars easily.

Challenging but fun

Randomny

Have played the board game and this is a close representation. The initial purchase gives you 4 Great Old Ones representing a wide variety of challenges. I recommend patience for all of them. The expansions represent extreme challenges but lots of fun. If you are a fan of Arkham Horror, check this out. It isn't AH, but it is very similar, very fun, and at some times, very challenging. The one thing I would like to see, is when you have NO chance of making the roll (such as needing 4 results on 3 dice) that it gives you the option to end the challenge immediately. Not going to get into the differences between the dice game and the computer game. While similar, they are different. Would love to be able to play online, or on WiFi with friends, but understand why this wold be difficult.

Great Solitaire Game

Lerbro

Being a huge fan of Arkham Horror I thought this game was great! There's a great Lovecraftian feel to the game.

Cool story... Cool characters... Meet monster... Roll dice... Win/lose That is the game in its entirety.

Great

If you love tabletop games, this is a really good iPad version of the actual board game. I thoroughly enjoy playing this.

So much fun

Didn't know if I would like this game or not. Turns out I love it. The iPad so much of the work for me, I don't if I'd ever want to play this game in a board game version. Can't wait to see what other games this maker puts out.

Excellent board game conversion, can't say enough good.

Fantastic conversion, excellent to play solo or co-op. Keep the expansions coming and a big thanks for the PC release. Release more of the Fantasy Flight catalogue and I'll buy those too, especially Gears of War and Descent.
