Good interface with a bug or poorly implemented feature

_NM_

I use this with an ac2600 router from Synology that has an atrocious internal web interface for SRM interaction. This app works even when the router SRM interface is hung and settings changed through this app seem to speed up SRM’s internal web interface recovery. What is missing in this app is the ability to add additional login profiles. After adding one profile, you can modify it but not add another. It asks you so scan a QR image on the back of the router that I assume other router models have.

Great app. Needs more notifications

Great app with lots of features. Please add some more helpful app notifications. Things like a never before seen device connected, whether a device has exceeded a certain amount of data usage or if safe access or threat prevention blocked something. Thanks!

Synology Rocks!

This app, just like the router, and the web interface, is awesome! After years of fiddling with buggy, non-supported routers from the big guys, it’s been a pleasure for me to work with the Synology router, and this app is like a cherry on top of a delicious Synology pie! (Sorry, got carried away!)

Bad Synology

CorreAktor

Long time user of Synology NAS and apps for the NAS. I’m replacing aging Apple Airport units and decided to use routers from Synology even though wifi6 is coming. Should have just stayed with the Airports, especially since this app for the Synology routers is really bad. I won’t go into details, but I am regretting getting both the RT and AC versions and may send back.

5 stars but problems printing with Apple products

Squellcchh

I love the router. But going back some updates, I started having problems printing from my Apple products and using Apple AirPrint. So like a good customer, I called customer service then waited for a new update. The following update fixed the problem. Then I noticed recently that I can’t print again. So now I’m back to using my old Apple AirPort Extreme.

Almost there!

Many have stated it...it’s a solid start but needs a little more. The app is not full function. The router has a lot to it but the app does not 100% control of it. I have the IPS app and I get alerts all the time through the app but I am not able to click an alert and still down on that alert like I can accessing it in the browser. If you ConnectTo setup with your router, you can access it through Safari but the experience is not great. Again, just wish there was more control in the app. It’s almost like this was just a “let’s build it and see what happens” and the there are two separate groups working on this at Synology...one group on the app and another on the SRM (operating system of the router).

No notification like new device has joined...

201912 App hasn’t get updated for 4 months already... ——— What’s the purpose to have an smartphone app if I don’t get full website features?! I can only update the firmware, check what’s connected, safe access, traffic monitor and control. But what I really wanted is the new device has joined the network and status of the device has changed, this is the features I get from the fingbox that I got like 2 years ago.

Disappointed

I own 4 synology servers and convinced a couple dozen people to get one two. It felt like a no-brainer to buy a synology router. Well, I bought 3 and set up my mesh network. The experience for setting them up and having them talk to each other was a complete nightmare. They come with different firmware and update them all and syncing them was an absolute disaster. Took me a couple of days to have a network up and running. The worst was yet to come though. Although for some reason the routers show close to 150Mbps speed traffic my laptops and phones and devices are struggling to load an empty web page. Slower that a sloth. (Actually good name for your Wi-Fi name running on synology routers). The app is okay but not great. Family control and security features make your network unusable. Blocking notifications do not tell you what is blocked. Instead of getting a device name you get an Mac address instead of a name. I wrote synology that the MAC address is useless to me and they told me it is impossible to get the name. Well all my other apps or hardware can, not sure why the router cannot. Parental controls are a bunch of clicks away. Not intuitive. Also a bug allows you to pause someone’s internet and someone else’s getting blocked. You do or have all the functionality you get from the web version. Anyway, this was probably not a fair app review but more a system review. I wanted to be heard somehow. Synology NAS is great. Routers are the complete opposite and total garbage. Synology lucks of user support. Their forum is terrible. FIX IT SYNOLOGY — or discontinue the product and concentrate on your NAS Tecnologies.

Stopped working

Night is darkest before dawn

The router itself and web-based interface are great. Skip this app as it is useless. It worked until the latest firmware update as of March 2020. Slower to refresh data than the web-based interface when it did work. Sneakily defaults to sending analytics data to Google even if you’ve turned it off via the web interface.

Doesn’t work

Purchased the router last week. I’ve been working with their help desk but the app just won’t work on my iPhone. Great customer support response time and the router is fast but this app just doesn’t work.
