Daily dozen

The old format was easier to use. The new version is too complicated

Please UPDATE & improve content & format

Yowzoe

It’s been a year. I’m thrilled that the app exists, as apparently everyone else is. Like others, I see it benefiting from a tightening up, a sharpening & compression of design elements. For one example, I’d like an easier ability to fill in boxes for previous days – it’s a bit awkward now (see the “Streaks” app). A little polishing was would invite more usage, I believe. Allow settings options to lock in choice of measurement units. It gets tiresome choosing Imperial over Metric constantly. An apple watch app would be useful for many. Again, see “Streaks” for design ideas. **Update, some months later: Still waiting for an improved app format. Why areOmega-3’s and DHA missing if Dr. Greger recommends daily supplementation? For anyone new, I really recommend the site nutrition facts.org I kicked my addiction to cheese after many years of trying. No dairy at all, and I haven’t had an egg since Christmas! My other major addiction, chocolate, has decreased from an average of maybe a half a bar a day of dark chocolate to a single square, which I slowly savor and consume with delight as a daily treat and reward. My restless legs have changed some. I realize I need to cook more complex meals, and I hope that when I add legumes and greens and spices on a more regularly my body will respond.

Simple but perfect plant based support

Cloudypianos

Dr. Greger’s daily dozen has been a life saver. I don’t like counting calories, I think that’s kind of ridiculous really, and “diets” are usually pointless, because we just need to eat healthy Whole Foods! This plant based plan to follow a general outline of necessary nutrients has allowed me to keep track of my daily food intake without it being a chore. I downloaded the app immediately after reading How Not To Die and as I help my way through a series of comparable books, this app has supported my transition to a fully plant based. Egan diet (I was vegetarian for years but never as aware or the nutritional aspects). After reading The China Study, Proteinaholic and a few other books I had an even greater understanding of the importance of NOT cutting carbs while also not stressing about protein. If anything consuming less and definitely no animal protein. So as I learn more about nutrition I can continually return to this simple app (and the poster I purchased from his site) to organize my spur of the moment vegan concoctions. I dot. Always check everything off the list but I make a good effort and see how off track I’ve been in the past. I can only hope more people become aware of the benefits of a plant based diet, and use simple wisdom like Greger’s to increase their own health and awareness.

Great App to Compliment a Great Boom

jazzaglp

I’m starting my journey to health today and this app is honestly better to me that MyFitnessPal and the like. I’m no longer focused on calorie restriction, but I’m instead putting my focus toward eating the foods I know my body needs to be healthy. Definitely read How Not to Die if you’re interested, it helped me so much more than I knew I needed.

What's missing...

Successgal

I love the app. Simple and easy to use. What's missing: (suggestion: when you click on the item the measurements are in grams. Ounces of cup measurements would be great!

Amazing
