Great App... but needs audio fix for filming

Maksizeus

I’m writing this review directly to you developers. I’ve grown to love this app lately so I went ahead and purchased a three month subscription. I would have given five stars, but the video filming function urgently needs an audio fix. After filming the scene the option to save two files is a bit odd. For some reason the first copy “reader” audio always sounds really lousy. The second copy seems to have been automatically balanced. But for some reason, almost every second copy I made during my recent filming had audio overlapping from the beginning of the scene into the middle of the scene. This meant I had to scrap the useless second copy and spend a ton of time editing the audio on the first copy. Not the end of the world, but definitely not functioning properly. Is this a problem you have been aware of? Are you working on a fix? If so, I will probably renew my subscription when the time comes. Thanks!

Best app I found until an insane subscription was added

LAActor

Relatively good app initially. Lacked camera control and it was imperfect when detecting the cues. However the developer changed to a subscription model and charges over 80$/year. Definitely not worth that money. The most upsetting part was there was no grandfathering to existing users. I had several scripts I was working on. I stopped using it and do not recommend it anymore.

One star for recent update

Hsrainblow4456

Was loving the app until the latest update. Now everything is pay to play and I can only run 8 lines of dialogue before it asks for payment. Very disappointed.

Was good until latest update

ChanceyP

You guys just destroyed the majority of your user base with this paywall update. & you’re gonna give the same generic answer as you did the rest of the new reviews but you’ve gone and quite possibly done irrevocable damage to your user count. The competition is about to take you over unless you lower your prices , undo the update or use a micro payment model instead. Should’ve eased into the payment model rather than this. Sincerely, a working actor and, until recently , avid user of your app. On your competition I go...along with everyone else.

Pretty Useful

JamzNYC

I use this app a lot, my only complaints 1. There’s a sound that chimes at the end of a recorded scene before it bounces back to the top of the scene. It didn’t use to happen, don’t know why it’s there now but it’s extremely annoying as it can be heard on your taped audition. 2. If a scene begins with a “Reader Line”, it will start back right away at the end of the scene with no time to finish the scene or play a final beat. Very annoying! I typically have to adlib a word at the start so that the scene begins with a “Myself Line” which prevents it from starting again automatically. Can you please fix that? Otherwise it’s a pretty useful app to have if you don’t have a reader.

Meh

ghttre

Great idea. Helps learn lines but I found the recording of an audition to be unusable. Scroll was too slow and can’t be adjusted. “On cue” feature worked 20% of the time when wanted and when NOT wanted. “On voice” was even worse. Maybe it works better with an iPad. I was using on an updated iPhone 7. Maybe it’s my equipment.

Great for a faux reader and helping you keep the pace and memorize!

Would most certainly recommend this app to any of my fellow actors! It’s got so many great features you didn’t even know you needed. Before I was just using the apple voice memo app but that doesn’t allow you any variance in how long your line might take. The number 1 feature of this app in my opinion is the ability of it to recognise when you either stop speaking or say your cue word. Sometimes the voice recognition can get off but if you simply tap it goes to the next line. It automatically trims silence in the beginning or end too and you choose how soon after you speak you want the next lines to play! If the voice recognition was improved a little more this could legit be a great replacement for an in person reader if you don’t have one!

Mixed bag. Horrible cue pickup

JAVIMERE

I want to like this product. A friend recommended it, and so I bought a 3 month, when I should have just done one. Was really hoping it would solve the problem of recruiting readers for audition taping. But the voice recognition is just awful. I can’t get through a scene. When you’re in a time crunch and need to get a tape in, and have to keep repeating your cue, it just doesn’t pick up the word like it should. Which is odd, because it transposes your speech into text surprisingly well. So it’s great for monologues/speeches, though I wish there was a speed adjustable dial for playback. I just can’t use it for my primary need, which is to not always need a reader when doing a self-tape. Just frustrating.
