Great app

Good app. Lots of potential.

(Was a 3-star review; see the end for why it's only 2.) This app has entirely transformed the way my household handles chores. We used to have the standard arguments about who was doing how much of what, and is it enough. Now, each of us sees the work that others are doing, and when one of us wants to pick up some points we can scroll through a list of available chores to pick out which one we want to do right now. As we do the chores, I switch back and forth with the stopwatch app to capture how long it's taking (which is how we chose to determine the number of points to assign), and then update the number of points on the chore before marking it done. Sometimes I'll pick out the next day's chores for myself, and claim them, so the other folks in my household know not to do those tasks. What could be improved? I'd like a tagging system and the ability to filter views, so I can more easily organize the work we do (we include grocery shopping, meal planning, meal prep, kitchen cleaning, yard work, maintenance stuff like stocking soap and TP and verifying that all the lights in the house are working, driving kids around town, etc etc — a lot of things). Ideally, I could see a list of available chores with a particular tag. I'd also love to have a note field on the chore, so we could make more information available re what we consider to be "done" — and leave the name field as a quick summary. (That would make it easier, I think, in households with a variety of different understandings of what constitutes "clean," for example. Like, with kids who are just starting to do chores, or are learning a new level of engagement with them.) The other thing I think would be useful would be a button or switch in the settings area where I could re-activate or later access the tutorial; I skipped through it too quickly the first time, and now I'm not sure I know what all the buttons do. So in all, I think this app is great — and I would like to see some improvements. Edited to add: this app lost another star for requiring that we send an email to redeem / reset our household points.

Great Help!

KryptoniteKoala

Wanted something to help with reminding me and my husband without me having to remember and nagging my husband. It's great for scheduling things that I don't do very often like once, twice, or quarterly too. Less work for me and keeping the house in good shape. Love it!

A Great App, A Few Features Would Make It Fantastic

apple-pixie

I love how this app is so clean and easy to use. It's a great little app that really can help keep things organized. I feel it's missing a few features that could take it over the top. The things I love about this app: - The wide variety of ways I can schedule reoccurring chores. This is especially helpful since we are a blended family and not all members are home every day - The ability to rotate jobs. This keeps it fair since there are easy chores people don't mind, and harder chores people hate. - Being able to have unclaimed chores that can be picked up by anyone. - Being able to assign point values to chores. Mowing the lawn is a lot more difficult than dusting. I like it when chores can be rated by their difficulty, allowing people to earn more or less points accordingly. - Reward points help keep family members engaged and competitive. Things that would be helpful: - be able to create groups within household. I would like some chores to just rotate between the children only, and some to rotate between the adults only. Being able to create various groups within the household would be helpful. - The ability to belong to more than one household. This is probably not as useful to most families, but as a blended family it would be nice if kids with two homes could use same logon to access all their chores at both homes, and not have to use different logins for each household. - It took a while to set up all the chores. It would have been helpful to have the ability to copy and edit some of the standards that most families use from a list. You could select which chores to input and leave off the rest. - It would be nice to have the ability to link chores. For example, 'unload the dishwasher' becomes available when someone has completed 'load the dishwasher'. When all aspects of the chore can't be completed in one sitting due to time elapsing in between, this would make it a lot easier to assign out appropriately. Overall I love this app and am glad to have it! Hopefully they can add additional features that can make it even better.

Almost...

jadeblock

This seemed like a winner, but glitches that make completed chores pop back up as due and that randomly reassign chores, the inability to skip a chore without screwing up that chore's schedule, and most importantly the inability to include younger children who don't have iOS devices makes this a big fail for our family. This app will be deleted from our phones.

I love this app!

Works great and helps my wife and I keep up on our chores.

So far so good

GoPractice

So far my family (husband and three teenagers) are enjoying this app. It is well designed and easy to use after the initial learning curve.

Needs an update

Needs updating ASAP. Would like to set chores to repeat only for certain people. Would like to add private chores and notes.

Makes the best roommates

This app puts a playful spin on what is usually a painful part of living with roommates. It turns life together into a game and for people who need credit for their work, they get rewards! I love chorma... Though participants need to be willing and excited about rewards.
