DRM Crap!!! App is useless!!!

MusizLover17

So I'm pretty excited to get the headphones. Goes to open CapTune and can't play ONE song because "it's not fully downloaded or DRM protected". Thanks for an unusable app.

Spotify?

the_silver_shroudd

I would love it if this app was able to pair with Spotify. Other than that, it does what it is suppose to do.

It doesn’t work right anymore

Almost useless

I really like my PXC-550 headphones, but this app is a joke. Limiting it to work with only local files or Tidal is effectively pointless for the vast majority of users. On top of that, it's very buggy and I found myself having to restart the app to get around the UI bugs. It does allow you to change a few settings on the headphones, so it's not entirely useless. It would be nice to support headphone firmware updates, but it doesn't seem to allow that either. Sennheiser makes great gear, but they should be ashamed of this junk app. The worst thing about this meager app is that it takes forever to detect my headphones. The mobile apps for my various other wireless headphones from Bose, JBL, Parrot and various others detect their respective headphone almost instantly, whereas Captune takes 15 to 20 seconds to detect the PXC550. To boot, all the other apps have much better EQ options that can be used with any music source. This app is garbage and it’s too bad because the PXC550 is otherwise great.

Works poorly with IPhone X

Worked well before with my iPhone 6S but I have recently upgraded to an iPhone X and it no longer connects to my PXC 550 headset even after a reinstall and BT repairing. It doesn’t fill the screen correctly either.

Mediocre user experience

Pros: Provides access to customizations of sound effect mode (director), NC, and other settings not available directly in the headset. The app deserves 2 stars for access to some really important features, but it goes downhill from there. Cons: Mediocre to poor user experience. It takes too long to connect to the headset. Excessively complex EQ settings are confusing and not applicable to most users. When the app is first explored, it gives the impression of having a full EQ for any music played. Technically this seems unrealistic. Indeed, after reading the manual it becomes clear that is not the case at all. Unless playing music on the device or through Tidal, the app only gives access to tweaks available directly in the headset firmware, which I found to be more than sufficient for my needs. Suggestions to Sennheiser: - Improve connection time to the headset. 20 sec is about 19 seconds too long. Hopefully this is not due to a hardware/firmware implementation. - Simplify the UI, which gives an impression of this app being an afterthought. The sound effects screen is largely centered around the EQ feature, which ironically is not applicable to streaming users. Either way, the layout is really poor. Redesign the app with simplification in mind. In my opinion, Bose has their UI nailed down perfect, and I suspect pxc550 is in direct competition with The QC35. - The Tidal centric approach is very odd and is not applicable to most users, making it look more like an ad for Tidal. This feels somewhat unprofessional. The headset was not made for Tidal, or was it? If I had Tidal, I would prefer to use the Tidal EQ UI. - Add sensitivity adjustment for the Smart Pause feature. The feature is often triggered incorrectly. When in telephone call, is not practical to carry on a phone conversation when the headset is constantly putting the call on hold because it thinks it was taken off. Hopefully the firmware supports sensitivity adjustments. - Allow customization for the single tap on the headset control surface - it is way too easy to accidentally hang up on an important phone call by just scratching ones head. Maybe tap and hold to hang up?

Simply doesn’t work

rajesh91

It accessed Apple Music and didn’t play a single song! Tried restarting phone. Reinstalling app and all options inside the app. Weird

Completely useless garbage

Park-view

I can’t believe how pointless this app truly is. I spent $500 on my M2HD1 headphones and this what I have to work with. No thank you. The headphones are going back to Best Buy.

Almost useless app

Besides being able to turn off and on certain certain features on the PXC 550 (why it gets 1 star), this app is useless. It needs to support more popular music services, like Spotify and allow firmware updates for headphones like BoseConnect
