• GET THE CHORDS: Capo analyzes the songs you load by "listening" to them, and then displays all the chords it hears. In addition to naming the chords, Capo can show diagrams for guitar, ukulele, banjo, mandolin and 4-6 string bass players. When Capo misses a chord, or gets it wrong, you can correct the detected chords easily, and your changes get saved with the song. You can specify alternate chord voicings, and for all you lefties out there: we've got you covered with our left-handed display mode. Rock on, southpaws!

• CHANGE THE SPEED: Capo can slow down (and speed up) your favorite music without changing its pitch, so you can practice with the recording at a comfortable pace. Its high-quality time stretching engine ensures that your music sounds great at any speed.

• CHANGE THE KEY: Quickly transpose your music to a different key so you can play or sing along with it comfortably. The chords and chord diagrams update immediately to reflect the new key as you drag the pitch slider.

• LOOP REGIONS: Instantly create a looping region around a bar of your song with a single tap. Capo's beat detection engine keeps your region looping in time. Adjust the size of the region (to include more beats or bars), change its color, or re-name it to stay organized while you learn difficult parts of the song.

• EXTRACT OR ELIMINATE INSTRUMENTS & VOCALS: With Capo's cutting-edge isolation effect, you can more easily hear the parts of a song you are trying to learn by simply adjusting a few sliders. Extract the sound of a single instrument/vocal to hear it more clearly, or eliminate it to create a custom backing track.

• ADD A 'VIRTUAL CAPO' / CHOOSE ALTERNATE TUNINGS: Quickly audition a song's chords using different frets and alternate tunings so you can find out where it’s most comfortable to play, or to better match your instrument. When setting a fret to place a "virtual capo", Capo automatically adjusts its chord diagrams so they are displayed in relation to the capo.

• METRONOME AND COUNT-IN: Rehearse like a pro and improve your timing by playing along with a song-synchronized click track. Use the count-in feature to give yourself a bar or two to take a deep breath before rocking out with your favorite songs.

• USE WITH GUITAR AMP SIMULATION APPS: Listen to your electric guitar or bass while practicing with Capo. Capo's background audio and split-screen support for the iPad makes it easy to use Capo along with your favorite guitar amp simulation apps.

• SAVE CHANGES: All your work while learning a song (e.g. editing chords, creating loops) get saved in a 'Project' automatically while you work. When you open that song again, you’re ready to pick up where you left off.

• SHARE PROJECTS BETWEEN DEVICES: Easily share your work between your iPhone, iPad, and even your Mac running Capo 3 (purchased separately from the Mac App Store.) Using iCloud, changes you make to your songs are kept up-to-date on all your devices so you can be ready to continue where you left off whether you made the changes at home on your computer, or while traveling on the road.

• LOAD & IMPORT MUSIC FILES: Capo can open, play and analyze the songs you purchased from the iTunes Store as well as MP3, AIFF, WAV, M4A audio files loaded from other apps. Import audio files from other apps (e.g. Dropbox, Mail, etc.) using the system-wide 'Open In' feature.

Note: As with all apps, Capo cannot play music that is protected using Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology. This includes streaming content from Apple Music and other services. If you are an Apple Music subscriber, launch the iTunes Store app to purchase the tracks you wish to learn using Capo.

Reviews

Disappointed
J.Arreola

To whom it may concern, Very disappointed Customer. I used this app every week and did recommend to a lot of my musician friends. Regret to have done that. this app is still not giving me the right notes for some songs. Example: “In Jesus Name” A: Israel Houghton. The song is in the key of C, but capo gives me Am. Please fix it. Asap. Would hate to leave your app and give it a bad reviews. Thanks.

?Love it. Great app everyone involved. Y’all doing gods work, if you’re into that type of thing.

Truly one of the best music apps!
Steiny143

I’ve nailed many songs in 1/10th the time it normally would. I wish it could be a bit more accurate and I wish I could figure out how best to isolate things but it’s absolutely wonderful! I’m sure in time that it will be close to perfect!

Can’t work without it
Haderlie

I’m a working musician so frequently need to learn new material or learn old material in new keys. Capo makes those tasks simple and efficient. Great support team too!

Nice work. Read the user guides though. My Update.

This app is one of the pivotal keepers if you play guitar. As for the app itself: a remarkable piece of work, once you get used to its nuances & figure out how this fits with any learning or transcription. The MacOS desktop version to this point, appears to be slightly more capable than the iOS version. I parked my use of it for quite some time. Going back to it, am astounded at its features anew (mostly the desktop). It does much of what an on & off again amateur musician needs in effectively learning songs without resorting to canned guitar tabs & as such, can help in combining mutiple source instruments into single-guitar playable renditions. It might serve professionals in similar fashion. You can save out reduced speed versions of songs fairly easily, in order to burn a song into your head at 1/2 or 3/4 speed if the instrument layers are daunting. At this moment, G6 tuning is not in the drop down. I gather Capo has gone to the subscription model. I pre-date that, happily. I’m not thrilled that the subscription model may be the future of software. This means reassessing what software one uses a lot & which can be triaged away on an annual basis. There has to be a better way to cull chaff. Re-buying essentially at full rev jump as many softwares do seems better, though $10 a year will keep you remembering to use it.

Useless
buddhajoe

Just downloaded this, expecting to be able to use it with songs from iTunes. There’s absolutely no explanation on how to get going. All it allows me to do is get songs from iCloud (I have no music there) or google drive... useless. Also, a subscription is required - that’s not really what I expected. After reading the reviews (which I should have done first) I can see I’m not the only one who found this to be a waste of time. Disappointed and will be uninstalling it right after I finish this review. Don’t waste your time

Really intuitive and convenient
Marco Polodjwjxjw

The tools you want to apply only take 2-4 taps before you’ve achieved the desired effect. Also, within a few moments of downloading I was able to understand the majority of all the features just from exploring. I can’t imagine how seamless this must be if all of the bottoms are saved into muscle memory. Great job with the interface??
