Cadenza - nice slice of the exotic!

Apparently there is plenty of music however I play with the sound off (hearing isn't what it used to be) so music doesn't factor in my review. You are trying to save your brother who you are blamed for shooting while at the same time trying to solve a mystery. Unique storyline, no vermin, map wasn't very helpful. But twists and turns made this a welcome change of pace. Verdict: buy!

So far, I am enjoying this one; lots of musicality here! This intriguing murder mystery, with supernatural overtones, commences upon your arrest as a suspect in the "purported" murder of your brother in old Havana, Cuba. Is he really dead? The ambiance is well seasoned with elements of spicy, Caribbean flair, such as the ocean-view sunset; the pool-side tables holding cool, tropical-flavored liquor; the flashing, neon-lit clubs playing zesty and invigorating varieties of Latin American music; and the 1950's era nostalgia. There are captivating elements of the unconventional genre known as Film Noir, which are demonstrated through the following ways: the vacillating changes between present time, as you are being held in the police station while undergoing interrogation, and the time in the past, as you convey the occurrences that have already transpired; the animated bands of visual strips that appear in sequences, which are reminiscent of a graphic novel; the smoky, dingy, and low-lit police station; and the exploit of the underground world of seedy, corrupt, and immoral activity. You will engage in the uncommon, distinct examination and manipulation of objects/contraptions using unfamiliar gestures, such as "sliding around" in lieu of tapping. The graphics are blotchy and unremarkable; they lack the purity and sophistication of higher-skilled craftsmanship. The coloration focuses on lighter, airy, and lively tinges to exude a more pacifying environment. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. You can finally customize your settings; options should suit everyone's needs. The map is located under the Menu, which is a time-wasting nuisance; however, objectives, or actions to be completed, are indicated. The HOS become more varied and interactive upon progression; one standout format is when the items appear in the list as a women sings a song. The puzzles are suited to the theme rather well; some initiate during the narrative account. Some are also visionary in presentation, such as the one where you make your way around a maze to arrive at the hospital while avoiding obstacles and the police. The collectibles are conspicuously placed; observe the HOS as well. Transition is seamless; no lagging. I took off a star because I think that the bonus round is short, and the story is a little cheesy; in addition, placement of inventory is slightly temperamental. Overall, the key components are present, including the additions of a uniquely structured storyline, soothing music, and some clever twists on gameplay; I give a thumbs up!

Too short

I would have given this game a 4 star review but it's incredibly short! Very well done and enjoyable but I feel like I didn't get my money's worth.

Put on your Cuban heels and come with me to the visual tour of Havana, Cuba, in 1952! My father actually went to Havana in 1952, and his black-and-white photos look just like all the scenes in this game! You have come to play trumpet in your brother Ernesto's night club. As soon as you arrive, a ghostly man begins to play guitar, which acts a a trigger to make a stranger shoot your brother! Unfortunately, the police assume you have shot Ernesto, so you must prove your innocence. This Mad Head game has beautiful art work, and the puzzles are interesting. Most of the Hidden Object puzzles also contain a Morphing Object for you to collect. Each new scene contains a hidden Diamond Design as a collectible. Good Map, and Back button. I find the story compelling and different, especially when Ernesto's friend, Lucia, begins to assist you. Who is the ghostly musician? Why is he angry with Ernesto? Enjoy solving these mysteries and touring a beautiful place!

Note to KimTwilight: based on what you have said I will probably enjoy this game! Can you please do me a favor? I am asking this not only of you but Dracyy, Izzyoc, Opinion, Sunshine Susie and anyone else on the DTE: please contact BigFish to complain about Puppet Show, please! They are really taking their sweet time in convincing ERS to fix the game already. This is extremely unfair to all of us who have purchased it. Why should it take this long for a developer to update and fix a fatal flaw? Seriously! Thank you to everybody who has already done so! On to the game. Mad Head, don't rest on your laurels just yet. It was a decent game but certainly not great! Your earlier games were much longer and there was much more to do. You could customize your settings. I felt this game was short even with the bonus adventure. The storyline was easy to follow. The graphics were colorful but not as crisp and sharp as they could have been. There were many locations and at each you collect a very easy to find diamond icon. Morphing objects were confined to the HO scenes, which had some variation but as a whole were not fabulous. Inventory was labeled and interactive, with plus items to assemble. Loading was instantaneous between locations and dependent on what mode you played, there was a marked teleport map to transport you. However the map and journal with clues and objectives was located OUTSIDE the game, in the menu, which we should never have at this point. We are lazy! I rarely used the map because of this setup, and you don't really need it in the game. There wasn't all that much to accomplish at each location. The puzzles/mini-games were relevant to whatever was occurring in the story at that particular point. Some were fun, and others were what I always call boring rotational junk! The game was a bit touch sensitive at times when trying to place inventory, but I found no terrible flaws. At the end of the game you get the usual extras, but you get trumpet lessons too! My actual review is 3.5 stars. I deducted stars for length, for putting the journal and map in the menu, for touch sensitivity and lack of originality. I also took off the stars because there wasn't that much to do at each location. Still and all, this was a fun game to play, and quite interactive. I do like turning things around and sliding zoom zones! I send lots of ?❤️? to the amazing DTE! I hope you are all annoying BigFish regarding the whole Puppet Show Debacle!

Fun and engaging

I love this series and this newest installment is a fresh twist on HO games. The music is great and it's refreshing not to have demons popping out all over. You really feel part of the story. I had no problems with the game- it has all the bells and whistles tho it is shorter than most CE games. That's my only criticism

Good game

Only loses a star because I almost went blind finding the tiny diamond collectables on my iPhone. I practically had to press the phone against my eye. Otherwise I quite enjoyed the game.
