Cumbersome to use

I had to get this app for an e-book that I purchased; hoping that it would be OK to just read on the go. Not so much! Hard to highlight. Unable to easily change highlighting colors. Hard to make comments near beginning and ending of pages. All in all cumbersome. For the heartache... I would spend a little more for Kindle.

Update: the latest update has begun resurfacing multiple issues. The app crashes, it reopens to the text I had used the first time I opened it, and it takes multiple restarts of the app to get to the point where I can actually study anesthesia. This app is wonderful in idea but has been a constant underperformer. I will be contacting the company from which I purchased these texts to voice my displeasure. Inkling never has these issues. The current version continues to crash and force reboot quite a bit. The main issue is when the phone times out it can’t pull back up without being reopened three times. Otherwise, the app is perfect for my CRNA rotations and quick access.
Text to Speech ruined with update

I need to be able to move the page and scroll like before, now audio is paused/stopped when you slightly even touch the page. ANNOYING!!! Search feature is completely lacking (before big update and now as well). Will the promised update FIXES be available BEFORE my semester is over??? Trying to find an old version to download but haven’t found it anywhere yet. Want to revert back for old speech to text.

Rarely do I bother to leave a review, but in this case I needed to. The app is horrific as is. Apparently basic functionality isn’t needed with managing highlights, which don’t match up later on if you want to switch to say your Mac, fair warning, when writing a paper. Also, chapters and notes/highlights don’t appear in some texts in the other view options (i.e. notebook and table of contents). It’s pretty sad when you open up the table of contents and see the title of the book (i.e. the cover is where it takes you if you are foolish enough to tap on it vainly hoping that it will go into a fall down menu). I love online books, but, especially textbooks, but your basically better off getting anything but this... oh side note when you "buy" the book you are only buying the right to download it for a year sol if whatever it is on crashes apparently. That’s just super comforting about the extremely expensive text you just bought.

The update needs to be refined. I used to be able to hold on a word and check the definition of it. But I can’t do it anymore!!!!! This is a really bad update. Please revise it❤️

Hate to give a non-functioning App even 1 Star. Doesn’t work. Major publisher preset with desk copies. Nothing accessible. What VitalSource refers to as customer support ignored request for assistance. Publisher trying to get their attention. Nothing yet. Need to find another App. Suggestions welcome.

What a shame that I am stuck using this app for the next 4 years of college. It’s much more responsive than if you opened this on Cengage itself, but this app still has major hiccups. I’d give this app 5 stars if they would fix the terrible page swiping action. It takes an entire swipe across my iPad for a page to turn, and when you do turn, there is a flash between each page flip because the app is trying to zoom out of the page you’re turning on to. Though this is a small fix, I have this app to MIMIC a good a real book. Apple has proven that such an absurd idea is possible thanks to iBooks. It’s okay to admit that Apple got the experience right! Don’t try to be so different.

They're just gone. And yes I'm signed in to the right profile. Had 4 textbooks that I planned on using for the rest of my life as they pertain to my career. They're just gone!
