Blinkist

Izip useless for music

The Blinkist app is a great quick read. A synopsis book report so to say, if I found the book very interesting I could then choose read the whole book by way of another source link, etc. I like my one free book a day read. Its very enriching way to expand my horizons. The only drawback is I can’t pick my own category read for the day. And it has limited subject categories lumped together. I would like a separate category for spiritual reads not over linked with religion. A “universal” category not interwoven with religion.

Please Be Aware

I wish I read the reviews before trying this app out. Just like reviews before me, if you’re just trying it out. The free trials end BEFORE the date. Keep that in mind and end sooner if you found the app does not help you.

Learning everyday

MsClinique

Listening to Books I wouldn’t have bothered with before I downloaded Blinkist . I’m learning new things everyday. I got my husband and brother onto Blinkist too.

Bait & Switch or Glitch

A friend sent me a link to a book last night by email. When I clicked on the link, Blink offered $99 ($8.34 monthly) for a one year subscription after a free 7-day trial. It was late and I didn’t pull the trigger. I went back to the link this morning and it had $8.34 per month crossed out and $6.67 per month in its place. (Good marketing!) I thought, “what the heck?” And pulled the trigger. After putting in my credit card info, it offered me an option to “to continue in the browser or download the app.” Having just paid, I downloaded the app, at which point it offered me the $99 deal with no reference to the discount through the Apple App Store. Either the company has technology problems or ethical problems. I’m guessing the former, since angering new customers is never a good policy.

Bait and switch

After a week, you get nailed for $90 and you don’t even get full books. I’m surprised Apple allowed this.

No tags

Dhafiralhadethi

I love everything in the iOS app more than the android version except the lack of tags which would make the app a five stars for me. And by the way I wish you add more audiobooks to your library with more features to the player so I can switch to this app completely.

A great way to look into a book quickly

This is a great application to quickly grasp the main idea of a book, it save a lot of time!

Indoctrination app

mrdillpickleass

This is a great app if you want to live in an echo chamber of progressive drivel. Most of the selected preferences this app feeds you is left leaning and nonobjective. If you are looking for thought provoking objective selection find another app.

Great idea, but more one-sided political than self-help.

HotelRomeo52

The curators are not fair-minded, which is too bad. Occasionally, you will get a great self-help or a good story in cliffs-notes-style brevity. The platform and idea is great. We are trying to learn and expand our thinking yet the free choices are all designed to just feed the narrative of what they want you to think.

Partisan app

Highjll

This app skews towards one side of the political/cultural spectrum almost exclusively. It is almost like propaganda.
