The most elegantly designed note taking app out there.
Theodore nyc

Not afraid to admit that Bear was one of main reasons I switched from android to iOS. I had the app from my MacBook but couldn’t use it for my android. Now I have iOS and OS and my bear experience is pure and I love the app even more. Bear looks simple but has lots of bells and whistle built in. The interface is the most beautiful I've seen for a note taking app. The markup makes it easy to edit and make notes. At $14.99 for a yearly subscription you can’t bear bear for price either. A MUST HAVE. But just be aware it’s Mac/iOS only so it’s best you are in the Mac ecosystem to take full advantage.

Not Evernote. Too basic.

I’m sure this app is great, but I downloaded it only for the adorable bear stickers for texting.

Hitting the right notes

Love bear.... I’m a bit of a note taking junkie for personal and business environments. I’ve bought many apps for taking notes, tried them for a while then drift away. Up until nowI I’ve use handwriting note apps a lot. Hand writing your notes is fast, expedient and with the right app, still searchable. (Another reason I was doing this was my handwriting skills were going down the tubes, so it was a way to practice penmanship). For me, Goodnotes, Apple Pencil, and PaperLike was what I settled on after trying out just about every app. But the problem with the hand writing approach was that it was hard to organize search and cross reference. Bear Notes makes it easy to organize everything with tags. Want to tag something? Just use #name. Is it too flat? Use compound tags #name/sub-name. The tags appear on the sidebar with sub tags under the parant tag. Don’t like the tag name or want to put it elsewhere, rename it in the sidebar and all the notes are adjusted. Suddenly I have my personal wiki without a lot of effort and that wiki has a lot of tools that allow me to pull in information from other apps. You can do some very complex searches, but so far, just using the tags has bee all I’ve needed. I opted for bear pro subscription, it essentially syncs across all your Apple devices. My work computer, my home computer, my iPad and phone all have the same notes and are up to date instantly. And It’s surprising how much Ime taking advantage of that. What could bear notes improve do to improve?- it’s pretty much a simple markdown app - 3 header sizes, just one font and size for text, but does support italic, bold, code blocks (with syntax highlighting!) and ToDos, which are searchable. But having support for tables would be nice. Also lists are justified to the first column, you have to explicitly indent them to align with what you are working on. Bear is pretty much a nice balance of power and simplicity. It’s working well for me.

Almost perfect

Great app. I would have voted 5 stars if it synced with my MacBook; but, it doesn’t.

Beautiful App

This is one app I fell in love with right away. It’s quick and it looks great. I love the formatting options and the tags to organize. $15/year subscription seems fair to me.

Pretty good app....

Don’t get me wrong- This app is amazing! But There are quite a few things That you can change. First off- It’s complicated to make your words bold and slanted, That’s something you could change. Second of all- How come you have to pay to lock your notes? The reason I downloaded this app was so I could lock my story’s, but I’m not willing to pay to lock them. Other than that, I would totally recommend this app to writers!

Simple and Beautiful

I’ve used Scrivener in the past but it was daunting to get into. The complexity made getting started seem like an uphill battle. I love it and I’ve used it for years (along with the genius Scapple). Bear, however, is simple and easy to get started. That simplicity is paired with a flat-out beautiful interface that makes staring at a screen for hours not seem like a chore. Don’t get me wrong, I will still use Scrivener for long-form content because it’s research and export functions are great but Bear’s smooth beauty and iCloud sync are really gaining a foothold in the market share of my mind. Perhaps as Bear becomes more fully-fledged (if they are going that direction) they will gain more. I strongly suggest everyone on the fence try this out. I think you’ll be impressed.
