AI biased gameplay

hecatonchires88

As others have noted the game skews dice results heavily in favor of the computer - I assume to make up for poor AI intelligence. This makes the game infuriating to play because your good positioning and strategy are negated when your units always miss and the AI's always hit. Of course, they might also be doing this to drag out the time spent playing the campaign so that you will supposedly feel like you got more play time for your buck. However, playing the same scenario 15 times because you've been cheated out of victory doesn't feel very rewarding. Fix the skewed dice rolls and this game may have legs, but leave it as is and you'll alienate the user base.

Try again fantasy flight...

Breven

I usually enjoy fantasy flight board games, but not this one. The graphics and story art are great but the actual gameplay is not. Combat is broken into 4 sections. First one seems useless. Movement and combat are the meat of it. I REALLY dislike the way movement is done in this game. It limits your choices of what units to choose based on the battlefield being broken into left middle and right. You get to pick from a list of predefined cards of how many from each side can take action, and this gets exhausted until you take a turn refreshing it or pick another side to work on. There are some other special movement cards you can use, but this DOES NOT feel like it's a strategic choice. It feels like a limitation for some unknown reason. Combat is not good either. When you fight, units can hit, miss, push, or get a rune action. The rune result feels like it should not be a result of combat. You can use rune powers on groups when you get enough, and they are cool, but the way you get them from combat is stupid. The push action is SUPER annoying. This means sometimes when your group can hit twice, instead it pushes away and can only attack once. So these two things combined in combat result in a system that is annoying. Combine that with bad movement and you get gameplay that is not enjoyable. The only reason I rated this as a 2 star is because the graphics, and art are good, but not enough to save this game. Don't waste your $$$

Makes the boardgame even better due to flavor

rcub3

I'm a fan of the boardgame , but was never into Terrinoh, the FFG's fantasy setting for this game. Well now i have a better 'feel' for the flavor of this world, and therefore have enhanced the boardgame experience. This game uses the tried and true Allan Moon's Commands and Colors game system, where activations, movement and combat are driven by cards. Great graphics, gret music. Awesome game.

A Strategy Must Buy

Trevdor

Absolutely love this one. If you are into turn-based strategy this is a must buy. It even has a bit of the table top war game feel to it. I'm loving the single player campaign right now.

Buy once, play forever

Peps Novak

A great solid strategy game at last you a long long time without asking you for money every five seconds like a crackhead in need of a fix.

Greatest tactical strategy game on iPad

Supermechace

This is the best tactical skirmish wargame on iPad. It is a port of a board game hence the additional randomness of battles. But it adds to the fun as the game goes on both you and the computer make miraculous and disastrous die rolls. Best analogy is imagine only playing xcom's battles but with fixed units. For those new to war games, this is like chess with dice. Though learning war game strategy may not be to everyone's liking so maybe read the rules to the physical boardgame online before jumping in

Oh I’m sorry, you thought you were winning?

Just here to give a nice slow clap to your AI developer. *clap……. clap…… clap* When I safely nestled Baron to the backlines and prepared myself for a victory, little did I realize the little 2-man Uthuk archer would be wise enough to know he can still use the power of pinned to snatch Baron’s last 2 HP, even though the math was severely stacked up against him and there was plenty of other fresh meat around. >:) Great game, although it should be priced $199 since that’s what’ll cost you when you fling your iPhone across the room after these crushing defeats.

EVERYONE needs to quit crying

sensikid

ok so I've got several things to say about this game but I'll start with the title of this review.....QUIT CRYING ABOUT THE DIFFICULTY AND "BIASED" DICE ROLLS.....no matter what anyone else would have u believe, the dice rolls are COMPLETELY random, they go just as much for and against the player as they do the computer.... in fact they even explain this in detail as the randomness of battle, and actually it makes the game pleasantly challenging, if you people don't like it go play My Little Pony Adventures.....ok with that out of the way let me get to the meat of the review- the graphics, animations, campaign, multiplayer, etc.,etc.,etc., are ALL absolutely top notch, as others have stated this is by far not only the best game of in genre-but one of the best all around games for I devices, it is quite addicting and over the top fun,not only do u get a lengthy single player campaign including a very moderately priced expansion but u get a lifetime of awsome multiplayer fun after, I NEVER write reviews but can honestly say Fantasy Flight has a new fanboy for life, this game is light years better than the board game it was ported from and u assure that says a lot.....if u enjoy this genre of gaming I implore u to stop reading and just by the game....I promise u will not b disappointed....I have never been so happy about throwing my iPhone across the room and I mean this as one massive massive compliment, for a game this well put together and this challenging I just wish I could give it more than 5 stars, and one last time for all the haters of challenges-----1)log off 2) delete game 3) re roll as a fruity little pony and last but not least 4) /facepalm x 1 million cause u cry babies deserve it.......that is all ¡!¡

Fun and challenging!!

Picked up this premium game when it was on sale and finished the campaign over the weekend. I like turn base app games, such as panzer corp., WH quest, Xcom, civ., catan. ... Etc. got to add battlelore to my collection. This game is very fun and challenging. Some of the battles took me a while to finish. always try to take out the viper legion first. Idon't find dice cheating issue. Going to replay the game to unlock some of the battles and buy the extension to try the Uthukarmy. To me, this game is 5 stars!

Well worth it

Battlelore 2nd edition from FFG is an amazing board game and this iOS replica is just as polished. Graphics are great, action is smooth, I just wish it had an undo button
