Longer comments are just cut off early by a few words sometimes. Very irritating when going through comment sections. Some gifs and "gifs" refuse to play. Swiping through posts will not mark the post as "read" (greyed out). I paid to remove ads and those still occasionally come up.

This has been for years my favorite reddit app. I’ve used it on android and iOS and it’s always been amazing. After the update a week ago however it’s become very broken. The app has always had full screen ads, but they were static and without sound. That was fine. Now they’ve become several second long video or “playable” ads, that don’t show the x to close them for a good chunk of time. Usually pressing where the x should be still closed the ad, but it’s incredibly frustrating that it closes out music, and it was such a sudden change. It’s also done that without actually loading the ad, so I have to close the app and restart to get music to play again. It’s also stopped showing the speaker icon on almost videos, so I can’t play sound at all. In full screen or the smaller window with comments underneath. Android also has a scroll bar so you can see how long the video is, no idea why that isn’t on iOS. That is of course assuming the video loads at all. Videos and photos have entirely stopped loading, even if you try and click the link itself. It will forever try and load. Comments have recently started cutting off short as well, so you can only read part of some comments. I don’t know what happened with the latest update, but it’s ruined an incredible app.

The free version was great with passive banner ads that I didn't mind having and actually clicked on once in a while. They've now switched to full screen video ads with the volume automatically on even when my phone is on silent mode. And the audio has been getting messed up to the point where three or more ad audio tracks are playing with no ads on the screen and no way to stop it without force quitting the app. Really not happy with it and looking for an alternative app to use.

Title pretty much says it all. The most recent update added fullscreen unskippable video ads. Don't know how anyone thought this would be acceptable. I've used this app for years, but now I'll have to uninstall.

I’ve used BaconReader for many years, and the recent addition of the full screen ads is ridiculous enough to make me convert to an app with worse features. I didn’t mind the banner ads at the bottom, at least they were out of the way. But to read reddit, it’s too inconvenient. If this changes I’d love to start using this app again. edit: these issues seem to have been fixed, I’ve not noticed any of these issues regarding the advertisements. Thanks!

Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea?

This used to be a great app, now I get a full page ad every time I run the app. I didn’t mind the lower banner ads, but there are other Reddit readers out there that don’t have a monetizing issue, and do ads in a tasteful way.

I’ve using BaconReader for years now, and they have always had ads that would open every once in a while. After their recent update they added unskippable full page ads with sound that open constantly. Including banner ads that play sounds in the background that stops other audio playback like Spotify. Don’t bother downloading until they fix this.

Can't access search results with voiceover. Fix this and it'll be a five star app for me.
