SEVERE Cheating App

DWdrummer69

This app cheats bad. I am a fairly good backgammon player and have never encountered a human opponent who rolls this timely and well. The developer touts that the way to prove the game does not cheat is to see that it’s next 100 rolls are pre-determined. That’s fine. What he does not say is the following: 1. The player rolls are NOT pre-determined. The human player rolls are determined by game situation. You are consistently given sub-optimal rolls, typically in early- or mid-game points. Knowing the AI roll to come, you are forced into making decisions that the AI will almost always pounce on. 2. The AI gets off the bar significantly faster than the player - always. I have had games where it takes 10+ rolls to get off the bar with multiple pips open. Even with only one in my home open, the AI gets that roll quicker because, in the pre-determined rolls, it ensures coverage of all sides of the dice faster. 3. The AI wins the first roll 75% of the time. 4. The AI gets doubles twice as often in normal play. To “even up” the average roll for the player, your doubles come when on the bar and with pips you cannot play on - even if 3 are open. 5. The AI gets early game doubles much more frequently than the player. Also, never accept the doubling cube when initiated by the AI; they will win that game 19/20 times no matter the situation. Absolute cheating. At its finest.

Great but a bug:

Joejoebobby

The app is amazing but there's a bug when playing on my desktop. For turn based games I only see that my oponent played if I quit and reopen the app. There is no notification. Can you please try and fix? Let me know if there is any way I can help debug. Thanks for an amazing app!

Great for 2 Player Games, Bad for 1 Player Games

Mr Patrick 0626

In expert mode, the game is expert at rolling dice. It is easy enough to show. Forget about how good anyone is as a player. Just count how many times it takes to get off the bar with three spaces open versus how many times it takes AI to get off the bar with three spots open. See how close or how far apart those counts are. Or as a simpler statistic, just count how many double sixes you get when on the bar and the AI has only the six spot covered. See how close it is to or far it is from one in 36. Or even simpler, count how many 6-6 or 5-5 or 4-4 you get versus the AI. Those and plenty of other stats have nothing to do with how good the player is. Read the web page in the developer response, then do your own math and see what is actual reality. It is great game to have fun on the iPad with a friend in a 2 player match. But it is just not fun against the “AI”.

RULES OF BGNJ-HD

daveB.

Rules of BGNJ…. Dice are so rigged you can predict the rolls. Think Murphy’s Law and imagine worst roll you can get or best roll AI can get… 90% it will happen. Auto Finish is your friend…. It will get the massacre over faster. You will never, ever win a race against AI. Never! Hit on opening move? You will roll Double-6’s… twice. Bottom line…. This game is the biggest joke in the App Store. It’s also detrimental to your game because it teaches you to play erratic, or just play the “bad game” all the time.

Very Good But…..

RodSMFunk

Best backgammon Game On Here. Too Bad It Duper Cheats. Catches You Every Time. I Would Give It A 5 If It Didn’t Cheat Like This. But Otherwise…A Very Good Game…

Frustrating

Elia T

Unless you want to be a loser again and again regardless of your experience level or skills. The player is disadvantaged that he/she has no control whatsoever over the Dice, which is totally controlled and dictated by computer! You have to be sadistic to want to use this app!

Rigged

Cafe lady

Don’t waste your money, this game is rigged for the computer to win.

Best interface, best features, best everything

Confession: I was once one of those people that was CERTAIN that the game cheated in expert mode. After looking at Jimmy’s proof page, I was left with serious cognitive dissonance.... surely, there must be some mechanism by which it’s playing unfairly. But then, a funny thing happened. As I continued playing more and more games, and learning from the hints provided, I gradually became a better player, better to the point where I was winning much more than I did before. It got to the point where I had to check the settings to make sure it was still in expert mode, like maybe I had switched it to easy mode and forgotten. Nope, still in expert mode. The game hadn’t changed - I did. Look no further folks, this is the one to get. Good work Jimmy, and sorry for doubting you early on.
