Doubles...doubles...doubles...

Ronmatr

Seriously? I get three double SIXES in five rolls!! Before that miraculous set of throws my opponent led me with the amount of doubles rolled by 12 to 2! I want my money back!

Great game but room for improvement !!!!

I’ve been playing this App for many years now in expert mode. When I look at the dice statistics, the odds clearly show the dice overwhelmingly in the computers favor. 5 doubles in a row 4 times? That’s only the beginning. The dice show higher than expected doubles sometimes by double the %. Additionally the computer makes some highly questionable plays only to be bailed out by consecutive doubles repeatedly which leads me to believe it is aware of predicted rolls. That’s fine we can all hone that skill in theory but the amount of doubles really bothers me!

Backgammon if you like to be cheated

bri1212

While the dice maybe randomly generated, the dice rolls, seem to favor the computer player 99% of the time. While i find this a challenge, there is obviously something wrong in the way it generates rolls. So while I enjoy the challenge of this game. I know, that it not only gets better rolls, but also gives me worse rolls. I think this game cheats on the roles based on the level of play. While it may be unintentional, it does make the game less fun

A good teacher

frek of the far north

I am new to backgammon, and have learned well from the optional hints and levels. Totally worth the money and I appreciate not being bombarded by annoying ads and gimmicks. Very enjoyable strategy game.

Overpriced, rolls not fair and play style is immature

SBerley

I expected a much more fair rolling for the price. I’ve seen tons of times when there’s only one combination of dice where I’m vulnerable and the system rolls it every time. Also, if you’re ahead and taking pieces off but have a gap - say in the 1 or 2 position, you’ll be amazed at the unnatural number of times you roll a 1 or 2 - the only bad rolls for you. The strategy seems all about hitting you - no finesse at all. in fact, decades of playing backgammon, I’ve never had two or three on bar anywhere as often as in this game. Stay away - pure ripoff.

Freezes on iphone X

Can play but not stop the app and have to restart phone...

Rolling doubles after doubling?

doubles?

Anyone else feel like the rate of rolling doubles after doubling or accepting a double is unusually high for both the player and AI?

App Needs Updating

Cupertino-Brad

This app has not been updated to iOS 11 and continually aborts in the middle of matches. This is a great game with a great community of players. Please update and make this stable again.

Best there is. Update: uh, not anymore

Zipadeee

Absolutely the best backgammon program outside of Snowie, hands down. Update: Still the best if you can play it without it crashing or disconnecting. The game became unstable after the upgrade to iOS 11, and now at 11.0.3 it is almost unplayable. I have just disabled Game Center per the faq and will see if that helps, but even if it does, who cares? I prefer live games, but the crashes and disconnects make me want to play elsewhere or on another platform. NJ Software says it is Apple’s problem, but it’s bad news for NJ if it doesn’t get fixed. Cannot recommend if nobody is going to figure out a solution. A dead ap until then, and a real shame. Update to the Update: the information to disable Game Center was given on the BackgammonNJ forum by Backgammon NJ and was the same advice you just gave me in your response - disable Game Center to prove it is the fault of Game Center, not Backgammon NJ. Well, ok, but all that ‘proves’ is that the two programs are in conflict. The functionality of the online play is still compromised. Lay blame where you will, but that feature is what I use and continues to be promised by you, the developer. Saying that only a very small percentage of us use the online match feature so it’s ok is just lame. I have purchased both the iOS and the Android versions and the Android version is fine. I personally don’t care to play on my phone due to the screen size; I prefer the iPad. Regardless, I will be moving out of Android soon when my new iPhone X is delivered, so now I am screwed unless someone fixes this. My guess is BackgammonNJ will need to find the fix, because it is a pretty small tail that is trying to wag Apple. And until it is addressed, I cannot recommend the program so long as it touts the online game on iOS platforms. It is a superb program if all you want to do is play bots. To me, it is the human game that matters most.

Expert mode completely rigged

daveB.

Ridiculous how AI gets whatever roll it needs and you get squat. Dice are rigged in expert mode.
