Perfect!

How often in life do you encounter perfection. This may not be perfect, but I cannot figure out how it could be better (and for me that's unusual!)

The developer's cut and paste answer to this cheating ap is ludicrous

The app rolls just what it needs to get off the bar and if it lagging behind it can roll five or six doubles in seven or eight rolls. I've been playing Backgammon for years and this ap makes me want to throw my iPad across the room. I'm done. The cheating ap is no fun.

Horribly Corrupt

Worst "algorithm" ever. You'll get truly random dice maybe half the time. 56 years rolling dice, ask me how I know. The other half of your matches will be obviously skewed in favor of your opponent, especially if you're a good player.

Years of pleasure.

I've had this app and have used it for years. It's my go-to for practice, and enjoyment. Awesome features. To the developer: keep up the great work, you have real fans out here.

Definitely Distorted

It's a real joke. This is not a neutral game, even at Easy level. The interface is nice, but it absolutely produces absurd advantages to the computer, very occasionally offering equally ridiculous wins for the player. Dice patterns repeat comically and predictably. Computer wins the opening roll 90% of the time. Computer gets exactly what it needs...and you also get what the computer needs. Computer always gets multiple doubles just as it's bearing off. Forget about getting back on the board from the bar no matter how open, though the computer gets back in immediately no matter the odds. You have to consider this an abusive backgammon exerciser, and not a neutral game. And it really makes you hate Backgammon. A real joke.

Good app, worth the $

Great app to get better at backgammon

I like the app. The roles are stacked for the computer. It can be frustrating. I suggest random roles of the dice. It more be more interesting and fun.

Bad

This backgammon game is totally rigged in favor of the computer, the roll dice will rarely be in your favor, there's for sure nothing random about the roll dice no matter what mode you play. It's a total waste of time if you want to play a fair and realistic roll dice. That said you can always switch to manuel and make up your own chosen dice and maybe then it can be more balanced. I don't understand what the softer developer had in mind to have the computer win 80% of time.

Slick but flawed (dice not random)

All of the features, except for one, in this version of Backgammon are the best I’ve ever seen. The look of the board, the play, how the pieces move, everything. The one failing, and a big one at that, is the dice rolls. This is a common complaint with this game and the others who complain are correct. The dice are not random. The developer has gone to great lengths to try to show that the rolls are random and even shows the stats for the rolls. But, while I believe that the rolls overall (over the course of many or even a single game) are random the order that they come are not. It’s a regular occurrence for me to see the same roll 2, 3 and sometimes even four times in a row! I was playing it last evening and double 2 came up three times in a row. While this is statistically possible it’s very unlikely (just under a 7% chance over the course of a whole game). Yet this happens many times in a single evening. For example, if the rolls in a game were 1,1; 1,2; 1,3; 1,4; 1,5; 1,6; 2,1; 2,2; … etc. (rolling in sequential order) it would be obvious to everyone that the rolls are not random but the overall stats for the rolls would show an even distribution (assuming there were enough rolls to go through the whole sequence). It’s been way too long since I’ve done any software development so I really can’t say where the developer has gone wrong with the dice roll algorithm but despite their claims the dice rolls are not random. If the dice issue wasn’t there I would rate this at a solid 5/5. As it is now, I can only give it 3 (if I could give half stars I would rate it at a 2.5 but I rounded up to be generous). I really do wish the developer would fix this one critical flaw. It would make this version of Backgammon far and away the best out there. Until then it’s very slick but I’m still searching for a good one.

Very poor random number generator!!!

Quads come up an average of six times a game!! This problem is a common complaint regardless of what the author says.
