Program is very good practice in learning pronunciation, spelling and use of vocabulary in sentence form. Excellent reviews and repetitive actions to reinforce learning process. Much better than any other application tried or used, including Rosetta Stone program.

This is a really great app. Kinda sorry I bought Rosetta Stone before checking this out closely, but hey! I still bought a one year subscription to augment my RS studies. When you consider how much it would cost you to take college courses to learn a language, the cost of this was NOTHING, and I honestly believe that if a person is diligent, this method is every bit as effective. So thanks Babbel! I very much appreciate your part in making my upcoming trip to St. Petersburg a success.

I took a year of Russian in high school, but I feel more comfortable after a week of this app than I ever did then. It is very well put together. I just started beginner 2 and hope the good feeling lasts.

I purchased the $9.99/mo subscription for this app and the courses are thought out very well. I prefer this type of teaching method over that of Rosetta Stone and/or DuoLingo!

This app is wonderful! When you're looking through apps for language learning there are a myriad of options, the search may seem daunting! Fear no more, Babbel is here! My favorite thing about the app is the review feature. I love how you can here the word to always make sure your pronouncing everything correctly. The flash cards are an excellent touch as well, I have always studied better with them to begin with so it was nice to see. The only criticism I would offer to the app would be during each lesson I would like to have more "listen and repeat", just so I can make sure I'm not practicing how to pronounce things wrong. However I stand by my 5 star review! This app is perfect and inexpensive! I can't wait to continue using it! THANK YOU BABBEL!

Voice Recognition

The voice recognition needs to be fixed to fit accents. I have a Southern accent and it says I am wrong often. My reason to back this information is my friend from college who is Ukrainian and speaks fluent Russian since she grew up near those countries. The app tells her that she is wrong several times before it says that answer is correct. She also keeps up with the language by speaking with her siblings almost every day.

I would give this app 5 stars, but my only complaint is that you can't skip ahead or move back in the lessons to review something a second time. The only way to go over something you've already learned is to start the entire lesson all over from the beginning, and you can't move forward without answering all the questions in each section of the lesson. Other than that, this app is quite brilliant! I was looking for a language app that had more reading and writing than the other apps I've tried, and this one fits the bill beautifully. The lessons are designed in a way that allows you to progress very quickly. Unfortunately the Russian app only has beginner lessons, no intermediate or advanced, but even for a beginner lesson plan, it's very robust. I would definitely recommend this app as a compliment to any language program or curriculum!
