Nice Piece of Software

This is a cool application if you own earbuds. It lets you hear the outside world without taking off your head phones. I think it's nicely done. Maybe the ease of usability can be improved a tad.

This is just what I was looking for to let me hear the traffic during my 1 mile walk across Chicago's loop. The auto-set function works well - worth the upgrade. Don't need the 'duck' function, though. Would like to simply move Awareness to the background. It's the only app that takes over the status area of my iPhone and flashes red! (A bit boisterous for an ancillary app! --- lose one star)

I wish this app could be expanded to work in the phone mode as well, providing some feedback from the mic to the earphones. The Etys provide such good sound isolation that talking on the phone is disconcerting because you can't hear/modulate your own voice. It would be great if Awareness could provide this.

I thought the microphone could stay up while the music goes down but they work in unison. So if the music goes down the mic volume goes down with it.

This an awesome app! I use it all the time whenever I wear my headphones. I love knowing what's happening around me without having to look.

"We know that using the AWARENESS app may be essential to your listening experience, and for this reason we are writing to instruct you that you should NOT download the iOS 7 software just yet. Our team is working diligently to ensure that your app is fully compatible with this software and should be ready for you to upgrade by early October." Dear Etymotic - Get real. iOS 7 is coming whether you're ready or not and it's getting downloaded to my phone and millions of others whether you're ready or not. Just because you didn't put the right resources on this project when the beta was released to you and every other iOS developer in June doesn't make your email any less charming. Give me a break. Wait until October. Umm, no. Get your crap together. Yes.

Useless and drains battery

Useless during my subway and bus commute as this app is unable to distinguish between ambient noise, public announcement, wind in the mic and conversation. Plus it drains the battery quickly. A smarter discrimination of noise vs. coherent sound is desirable. Currently useless as the app is based solely on sound levels. Besides, doesn't pause podcasts, only music. Pro version doesn't add any useful feature. Money wasted.
