Easily The Best, Easily 5 Starts

Been using this for years, well thought-out app. Tiny footprint for the large chest of features. UX is brilliant, especially with the new midi channels. One thing however... I'd really love to see an UNDO button. Other than that, keep up the great work.

Amazing, really.

Many people wonder whether they should get AudioBus or AUM. I’ve used Audiobus since it’s first version so to me that answer was clear once I came back to iOS music production: AudioBus 3. That being said there’s so much talk about AUM going around so I HAD to get it eventually. I must say I wouldn’t “choose” between one anymore. Both are great and I would certainly recommend any: AUM however is far more intuitive and had a sleeker UI. One thing I love about AUM is it’s AUv3 handling; the resizing of windows is amazing and really lets you take advantage of the small iPhone’s screen. You can have several apps at once displayed on a small tiny screen which I find amazing. That being said, this is the only reason I wrote a review: There’s another kid in town who does this even SLIGHTLY better than AUM, and that is ApeMatrix. I have the three and tbh I choose a different one depending on what I need. Often times I even combine them into my workflow. However, ApeMatrix does ONE thing better than AUM in AUv3 territory and I beg AUM to take note and implement the same behavior as it really would make the app quite better: ApeMatrix will let you resize AUv3 plugins just like AUM does, but the huge advantage to ApeMatrix is that these AUv3 modules remember their position on screen even after being closed. Unfortunately AUM does not do this; this means everytime you open multiple AUm3 instances you have to organize them on your screen whereas on ApeMatrix you do that once and it’s set for the whole project. This allows ApeMatrix to work better as a AUv3 host as I can simply use this app in conjunction with my midi keyboard and pads to trigger opening such plugins whenever I need to have them on sight. The second detail is that double clicking on the “edge” of a plugin’s window in ApeMatrix automatically makes it full screen: AUM does the same but if you double click again it RESETS its UI, as opposed to ApeMatrix which preserves the “minimized UI” and leads you back to it once you double click on the edge again. This is also amazing and should be implemented in AUM as it allows for one to have multiple “mini AUv3” plugins which you can maximize to have full control of through the screen only when needed. These are two small requests that could potentially make AUM even better. Otherwise, this is a great app and a friendlier version of AudioBus, also sleeker (you’ll probably need both in the long run tho, and also ApeMatrix. Best 3 mixers out there).

Truly a “Must Have” iOS Audio Tool!

Really, really pleased w/ AUM. What a useful tool. The beautiful UI is icing on the cake.

Great app but not so practical....yet.

This app would be so cool if you set it up as a live performing app. Every live keyboard player knows that you do not have time to turn down the volume knob on one patch and then turn up another patch. Last time I did that was with my arp quadra in 1979. Since the early 80’s we’ve simply pushed a button which gives us the next sound. So if I have to play horns for 2 measures, strings for 2 measures and organ for two measures I simple push ( for example) button 4, 1 and then 3(or however the patches are set up) When you are performing live you have no time to think about pulling levers down and up, you just want to push the next button, preferably larger than the itty bitty solo button on your App. I understand that AUM is set up as a mixer, I get it. And It is a brilliant app. I love what it does. But AUM could do for the iPad what main stage has done with the computer. Make it usable on the gig.

Updating

Could use frequent updating needs to be more live usable However still a strong app

iOS music would not exist without this app

It’s design is spot on. Robust midi and audio routing. Great for live performance or studio work.

next level!

I usually don't write reviews but I had to make an exception with this one! simply put: connect anything to anything, audio or midi, brilliant graphics and ui, it's been a long time since an app made me this happy, I run it on a old iphone 4s with tonebridge and a bunch effects, 3 channels, guitar and bass and aux with recording on a NI Komplete Audio 6 card and runs like a charm with cpu to spare, guitar rig and effects on the budget better than hardware.... on my iPad air (first gen btw) I mix and record a whole live band, guitar, bass, mic, 3 synth apps, effects just with AUM, everything in 24bit 48k, crazy how far technology has come and creative programing can take it! thank you! mind blown!

Indispensable

This app takes a lot of reading the manual, research, and experimentation, but it is powerful to the highest degree. I use it in conjunction with Xequence, and I’m able to control playback and recording of almost any aspect of production. Used in conjunction with Audiobus3 and Auria Pro, it provides a solid basis for post-production work. I can’t imagine anyone who is serious about using iOS for making music NOT having this app!

Most versatile audio mixer

Beyond words but.. Please remove reliance on AudioBus it’s a cumbersome layer that just complicates the whole audio setup. A real audio mixers dream if it could stand on its own.
