Held out...should have kept holding out...

TH1224

Back when Audulus was on iOS10 it worked. You could download patches, creativity was good! Then they updated it and it was required to have iOS11 to take advantage of all the new features including better file handling. Well, I had other apps that wouldn’t work in iOS11 so reluctantly held off updating. When iOS12 came out it looked like more apps were going to be lost...and some updates gained. So reluctantly updated. Got the last Audulus update..and file downloads are so convoluted to be nearly unusable. Some ‘quick’ fixes include download other file management programs, save to your desktop (I’m trying to stay away from the desktop, hence the use of an iPad), use of ‘the cloud’ which is not something I want to do. Where is the supposed ‘better file management’? It seems Discourse is handling this issue...and not too well. Guys, go back to the old way of handling module, at least until Discourse gets the issue fixed.

Stunningly flexible

medgno

I've tried out a number of iPad synths, and this one seems to be by far the most flexible. While there are a few types of patches I'd like to see added, the range of things that you can build both from the included components and ones you find on the forum are incredible.

Amazing

Typographical

This is insane. The sounds you can make with this are stunning. Although, it will take quite a while to actually get a hang of. It’s very confusing, but worth it.

Trouble with Bluetooth

pincole

Connecting an Apple Pencil to an IPad Pro running Audulus 3 causes the sound from Audulus to fail. Turning off Bluetooth and restarting Audulus restores Audulus sound. There might be similar issues with AirPods on new IOS devices.

Great App for Mac, doesn’t play well with GarageBand

Chris550

First off: the sound design and the main application is very well built and I highly recommend it. However, for the most part when I’m on the go, I use AirPods and I like to assemble basic tunes on GarageBand and reopen them through Logic Pro X when I’m back at my Mac. Audulus inter-app audio DOES NOT WORK. Assembling sounds with the AirPods also results in very low audio quality, because the app utilizes the microphones on the AirPods is even when they aren’t required. And even ignoring the quality issue, I can’t use this app with GarageBand! Please fix these issues. If Audulus 4 is going to be a paid upgrade, I’d like a paid refund on the iOS app because I haven’t gotten any use out of it yet.

Awesome app and support!

I am new to modular synths but have had some programming background. The UI for this app is incredible. It’s easy to create patches and make your own synths. I had a basic step sequencer built within a few hours of playing with Audulus. The video tutorials and support for this app are outstanding. I was having an issue with the app and had an answer within a few hours on the forum.

With respect, I am clearly not gifted with the resource for this program.

It is beautiful, intriguing, complex and challenging. I have read the admiring reviews and watched the incredible “demonstrations.” I have read the “instructions.” But, truly, I can do absolutely nothing with this program. As I started to work with this relatively expensive program I seriously wondered if it was in fact some kind of complex “put on.” Clearly it must not be given the affectionate comments and reviews. Nevertheless, I believe the enthusiasms of the gifted with this program may be preventing a simpler orientation and frankly simpler instructions. Simple instructions on how to make the first entry into this program may exist, but I have looked and can find nothing that tells me to connect this to that to get a claw hold. I would be so excited if I were able to soar and sweep through this incredible program. I cannot do even the most simple thing and while I will take considerable credit for not being smart enough to do anything with this, I am sad, only for petty financial reasons that I bought it. Nevertheless, if a test person is needed to read, try and comment on updated, simplified, workable instructions I am more than willing to volunteer. It would be wonder to experience the strengths of this incredible but inaccessible to me program.

Loved the program, keeps crashing

thynthethith3000

I open a new project and after about a minute, it crashes. Please fix this, I just fell in love with this app and now it’s messed up. It crashes before I can even get anything going. No other apps running.

Way too over my head

I thought this was going to be a fun experience but it’s the opposite. I was not expecting that I’m going to need to relearn math equations to get a simple few melodic sounds from this app. If you’re into taking the time and effort to learn visual coding this might be up your alley. I just wanted to download the app and start creating like I do with my Eurorack modules. This isn’t the type of software for you if you want to get a few quick ideas in your head worked out in a matter of minutes. Expect to commit and learn if you plan on purchasing this. I wish I could have tested out the app before throwing these guys my money. Other than that it’s visually beautiful. I wish I was smart enough to understand it. I wish I had my money back.

Almost everything is fantastic.

This is by far the craziest Synth you’ll find on iOS as long as you’re willing to “program” your sounds. Moog’s Model 15 is a great place to begin with Modular Synthesis and Audulus is certainly the next and ultimate step. If even Model 15 seems too confusing to you, then perhaps start with an even simpler modular synth: “RippleMaker” by Bram Bos. As for Audulus, I have only two complaints: 1) please, AUV3. 2) I use it on my iPhone and you have to get EXTREMELY CLOSE to be able to connect node outputs and inputs, please give us a way to define how far we need to be to switch to “node connection mode”, as it is quite annoying to have to zoom in to a point where the node I’m trying to connect occupies almost 70% of my screen: it’s hard to connect then this way. Both of this issues require fixes ASAP, but regardless this is a jewel of an app, so just get it. You won’t regret it, and it’s cheaper than the Model 15 (which you should also get tbh).
