Simply atrocious

KillBillwithNIN

This app fails to function, looses connections, Bluetooth and WiFi, and while I thought the earlier version was poorly designed this version (3.0) looks like it was in a traffic accident. Buttons that shift around. Text that displays over buttons and doesn’t scale. Clearly not following Apple HIGs. I suspect it was designed by an amateur android developer or someone who pines for the look and feel of Windows 3.0 PS The hardware is buggy as well. Claims to have too low a water level when it’s midway between min and max. Worst purchase ever.

Crap

The new app requires a social media account for keeping your own recipes. I didn’t by an iPhone. I bought a cooking device. Please quite being techtards.

Terrible update

GymRatCat

Why take a great app and degrade it so much? All my recipes with proven times and temperatures are gone. The great looking app is gone - I will need to learn how to use the Anova without using the app.

Great Device, ~meh App.

The Bluetooth version has cooked without a problem for 2+ years. The App in general has declined in ease of use, now specifically it fails to cook saved “My Recipes” without requests for creating/logging into an account (re)naming the recipe and multiple start and stops. A GOOD App would allow for simple “choose recipe, click once and cook”; this is not a good app. Edit - the above was before they restored the ability to avoid creating a trackable account. The new update REQUIRES you to create an account to retrieve any previously saved recipes. Original Bluetooth device owners are now forced to give up any and all privacy. GET OUT OF MY KITCHEN AND LET ME COOK WITHOUT INVADING MY PRIVACY! Fail. 0 stars.

Get a base model without connectivity

Mitasdf

I have never been able to connect to WiFi. I was able to connect to Bluetooth, but only the first time. After that, my devices (I’ve tried with my phone and iPad) just keep searching but can never connect. If I delete the app and reinstall it, then it seems to connect about half the time, but only that one time. After that, I have to delete and reinstall the app if I want to use it again. And using the Sous vide without the app is not intuitive at all; for example, in order to set the timer, you have to first change the temperature unit from F to C. It makes no sense. At this point, I’ve just turned the timer way up and, to use it, I just set it to the temp that I want and then keep time using the timer on my phone or microwave. Do not buy an Anova Sous Vide that uses an app; just get a regular dumb Sous vide that was made to be used without any smart devices.

What did you do?!

AppleFan_SS

Tried to use this evening. It actually connects right away (for once!) and I started the recipe(165 for 1.5 hours). I left and came back a hour and fifteen minutes late and it’s on 110 with no timer running at all. The chicken is still raw as opposed to being almost done. Huge fail. Fix this please. I was already lukewarm over the connectivity issue now it doesn’t even work!

New possibilities

TT Breve

There are all sorts of possibilities for cooking and reheating. My Anova Unit works perfectly and is a great tool in the kitchen.

Very good machine. Have 2 of them. Work great.

Anova App works well

Love my Wi-Fi ANOVA sous vide cooker. The app finally has most of the bugs worked out of it, and it works great now. As an original adopter of the ANOVA sous vide cooker I knew the technology would just have to catch up with a little refinement. I like the ability to ice bath a protein and start the cooker from work hours before coming home. Just having to worry about finishing the protein (10 minutes) for a family meal makes it extremely convenient.
