Works but need works

It basically works like it should but just is not as user friendly as other companies out there. By far the hardest thing to do is playback. I also use Q-See and their playback is so easy where as Amcrest you have to go through so many steps to play back and that is for one channel, if you want to playback a second channel you do it over again, every time. Just wish they have a complete remodel of the app. And after reading review after review it looks like I’m not alone. Just wish Amcrest would actually do something about it.

The app overall is good WHEN it works, date and time come out of sync all the time. Can not connect is another common error. Please fix.

I have had this camera and app for nearly two years. Both worked fine. Then they didn’t for nearly a year (clock/date resetting to 00:00 and 01/01/2000, recording a few times, and then resetting and no longer recording. “Failure to connect” and “no recording” were frequently seen messages. Then suddenly about half a year ago everything worked again. And then with the last update— it didn’t. One example is syncing the date/time with my phone. On the sync screen it shows “successfully synced”. But the change does not save, so when I return to live view I see 00:00 01/01/2000.

I wanted to be able to watch my pet at work. I live 5 minutes from work and I can never get the camera to load. Invalid log in..works from home after I reset it. Trying it tomorrow and if it doesn’t work sending it back. Very frustrating!!

The playback no longer works since the latest update, and continuously drops the feed and shows a reload button instead of the actual video. There is also no option to search by motion, so instead you have to choose a large chunk of time and manually scroll through and HOPE you find the area of time you’re looking for. BUT you can’t do that because of the first issue I mentioned. The app is bad and poorly made. There is no cooperation with this app and the software on the actual device. Burn it down and start fresh.

This camera and app combo make me so upset and frustrated. All I want to do is to be able to view my home from the security cameras via my phone but I can never get it to work from the app. I have rebooted, deleted and re-downloaded but nothing. So angry, looking into a different system.

App is terrible.

Hardware is quite good and lasts too. BUT, the app makes you run in circles trying to change or even add another camera until I give up and try again later. I have worked with many app and several camera companies, all were easy. This is nearly impossible to get it to go smoothly.

Good camera mediocre app

This app has potential but misses the target in usability. The device configuration is scattered across different menus and the live controls are unintuitive. It is difficult to find the setting you want when you want it. The initial setup presents user and password options but these should not be changed until the device setup is complete. It takes a few tries to set the device time which can be very frustrating. This app was clearly not written from the user's perspective.

Invalid password or username

amcrest app wasting your time

Whatever account name or pass we choose during setup, including the default “admin/admin” pass and user, it can setup then shows “Invalid password or username”. Completely useless.
