After they tweeted that they think it might be a good idea to tax take off and landings (later removed the tweet) I have de-listed the AirMap app from my phone ?
Had it installed for a long time but found KittyHawk to be much better. Then heard that AirMap suggest taxing drone take off and landing, that was it for me. Crap move!!!
AirMap, while creating a fine app, has consistently worked against the drone community in political arenas, and now suggests additional taxes and fees for take off and landing. If they refuse to support my business, I will return the favor.
Airmap may work, but Airmap is working against remote pilots. They have been on the side of initiating Remote ID, and recently advocated setting up sUAS landing and takeoff fees as a form of governmental tax. There are apps out there that do the same thing as Airmap. I can’t support Airmap.
Why not just uninstall the app? Imagine Google trying to get cities to tax you every time you use maps to drive through their roads? That’s what AirMap wants for drones.
They are going to tax drone pilots and are working to make it harder for drone pilots to fly their drones. Do not install. Use a different provider.
Airmap brings my drone down. They are anti-drone with their lobbing attempts to privatize the national airspace for profit.
