Why can’t I create my avatar? – Facebook Review

I have the latest version of fb and my daughter can get on my phone and pull up her fb account and create her avatar, but when we go to my account on the same phone, the option to create avatar is not there. If I click on someone else’s avatar and then, “try it,” I get a msg saying I need to update my fb app. There is no option to update because I have the latest version! What is going on?!
