Cool concepts, bad implementation – HDHomeRun Review

I love the user interface ideas in this application, but there are too many basic things missing, and too many bugs. On iPhone 12 with iOS 14, the following is observed: 1) the live channel tabs on the right go “blank” if you scroll fast. You then can’t click on them until you slow down and try and remaneuver them. This is by far and away the worst bug. 2) the pull out tabs when you swipe - not reliable and sometimes they stay on the screen in extended mode and you can’t make them go away 3) the volume/mute button does nothing 4) if you don’t have the dvr service, scheduling recordings from “discover” does not make sense. Hide it. Apple TV issues: 1) Discover does not work on Apple TV app - you can’t select programming from the pretty thumbnails 2) it’s hard to make the app menu highlight the right thing on Apple TV - you have to swipe up or something to get “discover” to highlight and then you can swipe left or right Basic features missing: 1) why aren’t favorite channels at the top of the list?? 2) rewind and ffwd only move specific time blocks forward or back- you can’t slide to specific times 3) don’t turn on subtitles automatically if I volume all the way down! 4) signal strength meter to help tune channels. Please??? Even better would be a channel scan integration with the HDHomeRun tuner - silly to have to do this separately but at the VERY LEAST give us a basic signal strength indicator! 5) if the app can’t lock in a channel, it goes into “no video data” mode for that channel. The only way to get out of this mode is to tune to another channel and then back. This is absurd - making it impossible to fine tune channel reception while rotating an antenna, for example. It should just attempt to tune in with whatever signal there is, and if the signal improves, the picture should improve, instead of going into this “time out” mode
