Service = good, App = needs work – Safeway: Grocery Deliveries Review

Pros: user friendly. Very convenient to see all past order items grouped by categories. The deals tab is how I shop most often. You can see all promo code offers, bogo and club card savings. Awesome to see the value and not have to search the whole aisle to see what’s on sale. Scheduling is fast and has multiple windows available, and my orders have always been on time. Staff is friendly and efficient. They put it where you need it (kitchen) VS handing it off at the front door. Cons: Often times the app doesn’t work as intended. First, the search function returns a “no items found, check spelling...” but it’s even basic search “Apple” will produce nothing. So you can’t just search what you need as you’re supposed to. Instead you need to go through all the drop downs and not everything is shown. Bummer for the customer because you may not find the item you know they have. And bummer for the company as I’m sure it contributes to lost sales and reduced basket size. As I mentioned I’m a promo code shopper. Often this function doesn’t work. It will say “promo code not found” or “invalid” but have triple checked all qualifiers (quantities and basket$) are net. Even more frustrating is you won’t know until the end. Therefore, you have already invested the time to thoughtfully select you items and now ... slap in the face. If you call the number and speak to a rep they will add it no problem. But that’s the problem, you shouldn’t have to call to get the discount owed. Lastly, if you purchase promo code items and everything in your cart is correct but when they go to fill your order and the item is out of stock... it screws up the promo because that item was required for the discount to be applied so now you ended up purchasing qualifying items at full price that you wouldn’t have. (Worth it with the promo, not necessary to buy multiple without promo) IMO, they should honor the promo code if it is their error. If the item was OOS it should say that while you shop. I work retail so I know this can be common based on foot traffic during time to fill but all the more reason for the store to accommodate the customer on the web. If these glitches were fixed it would definitely deserve 5-star rating. Until then, 3 is generous!
